Job overview:

Our client, a large Civil Engineering & Construction Contractor, is looking for a Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer to work on the construction of a large, new build Sewage Treatment Works scheme in the State of Jersey, Channel Islands.

Working as part of a Project Team, as a Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer, you will be required to perform technical engineering and supervision on a large construction project, which will also involve working with the overall management team. Daily duties will involve acting as the main technical advisor for Site Engineers, Junior Engineers and subcontractors on site, aiding the Site Management team with site security, health and safety, as well as the organisation and supervision of material resources.

Working alongside the Site Manager, you will look to enable the most efficient and cost-effective approach in delivering a quality project, whilst maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality assisted by the commercial team. The will be completed by conducting precise interpretation of the project and other key deliverables noted by the client, ensuring that all information of clearly communicated to all associated parties on site.

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing Site Engineers on site and advising the team with technical details or changes.
  • Minimal setting out and checking work, as required.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety systems are in place and adhered to.
  • Regularly reviewing the project's status, ensuring that all options have been considered and evaluated to improve construction performance.
  • Ensure commercial challenge at all times.
  • Co-ordinating and delegating the work load among the Setting out Engineers.
  • Co-ordination of all site control and Surveying on the site.
  • Procuring and maintaining surveying and setting out equipment.
  • Daily co-ordination and analysis of survey / settlement and monitoring results. Distribution of the results to all stakeholders, implementing contingency plans if necessary.
  • Checking and distribution of drawings / documents and quantities and ensuring that any calculations are accurate for the works.
  • Helping with the selection and procurement of materials for use in the construction and their value.
  • Planning the work and efficiently organising site teams in order to meet an agreed programme of deadlines.
  • Liaising with any consultants and / or sub-contractors engaged in the project.
  • Attending regular meetings with clients and consultants and keeping them informed of progress.
  • Supervising and monitoring the site labour force and monitoring the work of any subcontractors.
  • Overseeing quality control, ensuring all Inspection and test forms are completed and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may occur.
  • Promote Near Miss and Positive Intervention reporting.
  • Engage with Supply Chain.
  • Quality Assurance.
  • Development of strong team working relationships.
  • Helping to ensure all project KPI`s and KPM`s are achieved.
  • Upload documentation as and when necessary in line with business requirements, to ensure latest documentation is always available.
  • Ensuring compliance with company and client procedures.
  • Cost risk management and early identification of problematic issues on site.
