Site Agent - West Midlands - Permanent Role - Start August 2018 - Water Industry (AMP 6) - Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 Per Annum + Car Allowance + Package (Salary can be negotiated higher if required and experience matches)

Our client, a large national Construction and Civil Engineering Contractor, who typically operate within the Water & Waste Water Sections of the Infrastructure industry, are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Agent. The role has come up, due to increase in work load around the Severn Trent Water Network and the West Midlands area. As such, they are looking for a Site Agent who can take responsibility for managing construction projects, ensuring project delivery to client specifications and standards. All work in this role will be completed whilst maintaining high levels of health and safety, quality, environmental impacts and also being part of cost control. In this role, you will not only complete work to agreed programmes, but you will also work closely with the Engineering, Surveying and Estimating Departments, Planners, to ensure that all client expectations are maintained or exceeded.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their capability to manage multiple value sites. Our client is ideally looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can demonstrate their ability to organise, manage and motivate a small team of site operatives and subcontract staff to produce a finished product of the highest standard. The successful candidate will also be comfortable in the use of IT and programming skills using MS Project would be an advantage.

This role involves managing a £4M Civil M+E scheme, associated with the abandonment of Water Treatment processes of the existing inlet works and replacing it with a traditional single ditch along with construction of a single 18m diameter final settlement tank. Additionally, you will be instrumental in the procurement and installation of SAS thickening along with reuse of existing assets to provide pre and post thickening sludge storage, as well as the Installation of new tertiary solids removal plant downstream of FST along with Iron Dosing to the crude effluent upstream of the ASP ditch.

Key Responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Have responsibility for the overall and successful delivery of projects
  • Ensuring the project you work on stay within or are completed under commercial barriers (unless agreed otherwise)
  • Develop H&S systems on with and ensure that work is competed without incidents
  • Delivering projects to agreed quality and without defects
  • Produce/implement Project Plans, RAMS, ITP's and waste management plans, in line with company procedures
  • Produce/manage project programme and produce 2 weeks look ahead
  • Produce procurement schedules and liaise with the procurement department to ensure sites have adequate resources to complete the tasks
  • Interfacing with the client, representing the business, talking to customers, member of the general public as well as relevant parties such as office bodies and councils
  • Maximise project values where possible
  • Complete daily site dairies and compiling site records
  • Completing relevant weekly/monthly reports for clients and for internal managers
  • Chair weekly site meetings and giving progress reports

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualification including SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid etc.
  • Experience in the water industry would be an advantage, as well as being environmentally and contractually aware
  • Previous had experience working at Site Agent, Site Manager levels, delivering Civil Engineering, Infrastructure or Water projects
  • Have completed daily duties as listed above, in previous roles
