Senior Transport Modeller


£40,000 - £50,000 (DOE)

A Senior Transport Modeller is required for an international multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy to be part of their Transport team based in the Newcastle office. Due to continued growth and an expanding workload with a number of key clients including Highways England and many Local and Combined Authorities, the client are seeking an experienced transport modeller to strengthen their established Scotland and North East transport team.

You will work within an established modelling team across a range of projects relating to the development and operation of strategic multi modal and highway transport models in the UK. You will be based in Newcastle and will get involved in a range of high profile transport planning and modelling projects.

You will get involved in all aspects of modelling including, base model development, calibration / validation and the development of forecast models; economic appraisals and the preparation of business cases; attending meetings with design teams, stakeholders and clients; and producing technical and non-technical reports for a variety of audiences.



  • University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. civil engineering, geography, economics, mathematics) and working towards Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Typically around 5+ years experience in transport modelling with an emphasis on highways and demand modelling;
  • Highly proficient in the use of more than one of the following modelling suites SATURN, CUBE, VISUM as well as GIS;
  • Able to build, calibrate and validate transport models to WebTAG and other industry standards;
  • Experience in developing and implementing demand models;
  • Highly proficient in analytical techniques including databases, Excel, SQL and others;
  • Highly proficient in report and proposal writing for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Able to manage workload and an ability to carry out tasks to strict deadlines.
  • Confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead tasks within projects and train and mentor team members.
