Salary: £44,000 to £50,000 Per Annum + Package (Negotiable on relevant experience)

Job Description:

Our client, a growing Civil Engineering contractor, who operate within the Water sector, have an excellent opportunity available, for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis, working on contracts for one of their key clients: Severn Trent Water.

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring cost control is maintained throughout all functions (procurement, delivery, design etc.).
  • Supporting the project manager with project and commercial deliverables.
  • Providing support and junior commercial staff.
  • Preparing sub-contract tender packages, carrying out comparisons and placing relevant orders.
  • Being responsible for the management, collation, interpretation and analysis of project commercial records.
  • Supporting the Target Cost process through all of the key milestones.
  • Producing monthly cost & value forecasts, including monthly project review reports.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities to project, considering spend vs budgets.
  • Providing sub-contractor management to relevant Water Projects.
  • Producing impact assessments, early warnings, risk expenditure and compensation event submissions.
  • Managing compliance and the suitability surrounding processes and procedures on a project basis.
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager with wider commercial issues.
  • Liaising with the Project Accountants to establish accurate cost and cash reporting.

Candidates will ideally have:

  • A formal qualification in Quantity Surveying (HND or BSc).
  • Experience of working in the Water/Civil Engineering/Infrastructure sectors.
  • Come from a Civil Engineering or M&E background.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC construction contracts.
  • Experience in the tender & target cost processes and the review of such documents.
  • Previously involvement in change control and risk management.
  • Strong IT skills with experience of databases and MS Office.
