Overview:

Our client, a leading Civil Engineering contractor within the Civil Engineering & Infrastructure sectors of the Construction industry, is currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Warwick, on a permanent basis. This role will entail; being responsible for cost control of relevant infrastructure/water projects; maximising value and minimising risk of current schemes; maintaining quality of work and safety regulations on current contracts, whilst reporting into an overall Commercial Manager.

Key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing commercial resources for each assigned project (or section of a larger scheme), to maximise gross margin, through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts.
  • Providing commercial expertise, typically on NEC forms of contracts, to include the production and submission of valuations, claims, budget monitoring, and contract/workstream performance data.
  • Assessing, reviewing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks, implementing our clients policies (for risk management).
  • Supporting authorisation and submission of project variations, authorising the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders etc.
  • Maximising cash flow where possible, through the control, measurement (including quality) and valuation of work, before invoicing customers and payment of suppliers.
  • Valuing work executed by sub-contractors and certifying interim and final payments.
  • Implementing our clients company policies including SHE and risk management.
  • Promoting our client's values towards their customers/clients, in order to meet or exceed expectations.

Candidates will ideally:

  • Hold a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (i.e. Degree / HNC - Desirable).
  • Have experience of working with NEC forms of contract options (Ideally NEC 3 Option C).
  • Have experience or working within a similar role, ideally within the Civil Engineering/Infrastructure/Water sectors.
  • Have experience of working on Framework contracts / projects.
  • Be proficient in the use of MS Office (Specifically Excel) as well as other IT systems.
  • Have strong communication skills (Written / Verbal).
  • Have strong organisation and time management skills.
