Senior Quantity Surveyor - Great Yarmouth/Peterborough - Start July/August 2018 (Ideally) - Water Sector / Sea & Flood Defence - Salary Negotiable (Circa £47,500 to £55,000 Per Annum - Please note: Salary is negotiable if required)

Our client, a large national construction contractor operating within the Water & Waste Water sector, is currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor, to join their team and to work on a major framework project in the Great Yarmouth Area. Please note: This project is currently at pre-construction/design stage and for the initial 3 to 4 months, you will be required to work out of our client's office in Peterborough, providing input to ECI, before the role becomes site based in Great Yarmouth.

The role will involve working with the existing commercial team, to manage a multimillion £ contract, ensuring that the scheme stays within financial parameters and that any changes or early warnings from ECI work, are picked up and resolved with the client.

The work will involve helping to reduce flood risks across the local area, by working with all related parties (planning, design, construction) park of a specialist water and environmental joint venture. This will be achieved by assessing environmental and flood risks and construction innovative solutions (i.e. sea defence, flood banks, pumping stations, reservoir improvements etc).

Daily duties in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing input to Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and construction activities.
  • Monthly valuing of the works and making applications for payment.
  • Identifying values and agreeing variations with the end clients.
  • Agreeing final accounts and reporting internally on the financial and contractual status of schemes including completion of monthly financial forecasts.
  • Procuring and letting sub-contract packages.
  • Managing sub-contractors with the site delivery team whilst on site and agreeing final accounts.

Candidates will ideally:

  • Have previous experience in relevant Quantity Surveyor positions.
  • Have worked within the Water industry - candidates from other relevant sectors will also be considered & the role would also suit some from a PQS or Contractor/Framework background.
  • Be familiar with NEC forms of contract.
  • Be able to manage client budgets.
  • Have strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Be IT literate.
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (Degree advantageous)
