Senior QS/Commercial Manager - Groundworks and Civil Engineering - Salary flexible depending on experience PERMANENT ROLE - Cumbria

The client

My client are a fast-growing, ambitious Civil Engineering & Groundworks firm based in Cumbria, and we are looking to recruit for a highly capable and experienced Senior QS/Commercial Manager to assist the company to deliver strong growth targets that have been put in place for the next 5 years, and need a person who has a depth of knowledge and experience in this role.

We are seeking a Senior QS/Commercial Manager to assist the company in the next stage of growth and provide a healthy pipeline and continuous flow of new business.

You will demonstrate broad commercial skills and a strong background in understanding the commercial drivers, risk profiles and key success factors for Clients procuring construction/civils works.

Duties & Responsibilities:

As Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager you will be responsible for incorporating standard surveying duties from the production of enquiries, through to placing of orders, account valuation and final account agreement. Your other roles and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Managing multiple projects at once including pre-tender involvement.

Present in a professional manner at all times including dress code.

Identifying, analysing and developing responses including commercial risks

Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;

Devise accurate, efficient commercial systems in a bid to support and improve current structure.

Meet all deadlines in a proactive and forthcoming manner to include all internal weekly/monthly commercial reporting meetings.

Weekly report meetings with Senior Management on current tenders, projects won to ensure an accurate project forecast is in place.

Post Contract (Quantity Surveyor)

Maintain all contract documentation and advise on pre tender and post contract matters

Preparation and issue of contractual letters to clients and / or sub-contractors

Post contract liaison with clients

Post contract liaison with design team

Carry out take offs for material procurement

Sub-contract negotiation and letting

Preparation and submission of interim valuations

Site measurement

Manage and value variations

Agreement and certification of sub-contractors' interim valuations and final accounts

Preparation and submission of several works final account

Dispute resolution

Agreement of final accounts

Undertaking costs analysis

In addition, you will also be expected to carry out pre- and post-contract duties, cost feasibilities, cost reporting, and value engineering.

Skills & Qualifications:

Relevant 3rd level degree

Professional membership of MRICS would be an advantage

SMSTS (desirable)

Full UK Driving Licence

Understanding of Contractual Law

CSCS Mandatory

A high level of diplomacy and customer focused.

Salary

£30,000 - £50,000 (rough guide line) this is negotiable depending on level

20 days holiday rising to 25 plus bank holidays,
