Senior Quantity Surveyor - Permanent Role - Lancashire based company - Civil Engineering - NEC form of contract - 07980 006 436

The client
My client are a Traditional Civil engineering Contractor based in the Lancashire area. They work within a wide range of different sectors including (but not all) roads, bridges, earthworks, groundworks, rail, drainage etc.
This client is well established, they have an excellent reputation and they have won a number of awards. Typical projects are between £3 - £8 million in value. You will be reporting straight into the Commercial Manager.

Duties
Preparing tender and contract documents, this will include bills of quantities with the client.
Ensure the full and proper implementation of the company Procedures.
Performing risk, value management and cost control.
To co-operate with, report to and implement the reasonable directives of the Senior Commercial Manager
Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations in the UK
To ensure in consultation with the project team that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner so as to protect the companys position in its trading activities.
Performing Value management and cost control.
Prepare accurate draft sub-contracts and/or to approve such drafts as prepared by subordinates to the level of responsibility delegated by the individuals supervisors.
Arranging payments and valuing completed work.
To assist the project team in the administration of sub-contractor performance so as to ensure the economic and timely completion of all sub-contractor liabilities written into sub-contracts.
Record and analyse the impact of variations/design cost control/value engineering.
Participate and advise on programme/delay issues arising from change/variations and to prepare claims for extensions of time.
To prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts.
Participate or lead in Project Meetings.
To participate in dispute avoidance or alternatively resolution.
Ensure the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter.
Strong client facing and negotiating skills

The candidate
Must have experience commercially running civil engineering projects previously
In depth knowledge or different kinds of civil engineering projects such as roads, groundworks, earthworks, bridges, paving, drainage etc.
All applicants with have a strong technical knowledge of the civil engineering / construction industry.
Candidate personality traits hardworking, ambitious, driven, excellent communication skills

Required
CSCS Card.
A relevant construction related degree
Experience of managing, mentoring and developing staff.
Proficient in the use of MS Packages e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Preparation of Bills of Quantities, monthly valuations, final accounts etc Experience in leading tender submissions
Desirable Qualification but not essential - Professional membership of recognised institute e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICES (desirable).
