Client
I am recruiting for one of the UK’s leading independent house builders which are based in Cheshire. An award winning developer with an enviable reputation.
Currently building over 500 homes a year in the UK. A developer with outstanding customer service.

Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director your will be responsible for financial management of designated sites / tasks to ensure that the companies targets are achieved

Duties
Responsibility for all build financial aspects of the site.
Ensure that the working budgets are completed with-in 4 weeks of superstructures starting on site.
Meet subcontractors to discuss all aspects of their order including programme and issues raised by either party.
Each site requires a full cost to complete every year as the valuation programme to defined cut off periods. Cost to completes to be carried out using designated format to maintain consistency.
Attend Site meetings. The surveying team will review performance of previous month against targets. Targets will be set.
Surveyors to update Commercial Director monthly on any identified variances that occur between valuations.
Prepare subcontractor reconciliations
Review month end cost ledger print outs. These will include all variation forms and day work that has arisen during the month. These will be in a format designed by the Commercial Director to maintain consistency.
Subcontractors need to be paid by the Surveyor on a weekly / monthly basis upon receiving the invoice/application and appropriate authorisation
These will include any agreed variation / day works requested by the subcontractor.
Surveyors to visit site every week to spend time with the Site Manager as well as carry out on site measures.
The Surveyor is to ensure that the Commercial Director receives continual updates / feedback on all cost issues arising.
The Surveyor is required to process contra charges for remedial works carried out by others on behalf of the Subcontractors. The Surveyor will receive notification of remedial work from the Site Manager. The contra charge will then be completed and passed to the Subcontractor.
Close liaison with Development Department. Provide feedback on drawing errors/amends/subcontractor queries.
Assist in compiling/updating development specifications – new and current sites.

Candidate Essentials
You must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in the field of Quantity Surveying, ideally within volume house building, however a strong background from within a contractor working on residential projects would also be considered
A minimum of 7 years’ work experience (on site and in the office)
BSc in Quantity Surveying is ideal, a HNC / HND is essential or a similar in a commercial related course is essential.
Drivers licence is essential.
