Purpose of the Role

  • Professional delivery of sustainable, profitable growth.
  • To assist lead the commercial and contractual aspects of a Project or Business Area to support operations and set strategies with the objective of minimising risks, maximising opportunities and avoiding disputes.
  • As a member of a Project Team advising and providing strategic input and Commercial expertise to support the Project and enable the:
  • Maintenance and delivery of the stated profits and margins
  • Establishment of robust and consistent change control processes on the Project/Area to ensure that appropriate Contract Price adjustments are identified and agreed with the Client
  • Identity and calculation of appropriate risk and opportunity allowances and their active management
  • Delivery of consistent value and cost reporting, as required for Business Unit and Project control and review
  • Maintenance of cost control systems for demonstration to clients (where required)
  • Identification and implementation of process and/or efficiency improvements.

Section 3: Key Duties / Responsibilities

The Senior Project Quantity Surveyor will be based on a large Hotel project in South Manager to help manage the commercial team and functions on site.

With a flexible approach to supporting all activities, preferably but not limited to:

Work Winning:

  • Support Work Wining teams, where required, in identifying and quantifying risk and opportunity in bids and tenders.
  • To support, and where necessary lead, key negotiations with prospective customers, partners, contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Where required, ensure a commercial focus is maintained in established and/ or developing markets.

Contract Delivery:

  • Ensure effective Cash Management.
  • An overview is maintained of Risk Management processes and procedures, including acting as liaison for internal audit activities.
  • Contractual imperatives (duties, obligations, notices, standards etc.) are observed and discharged to protect the companies position and entitlements under Contract or with Insurances etc.
  • A proper view is taken of periodic performance (financial and progress) per project
  • To deliver projects in accordance with corporate governance.

Functional Management:

  • To ensure the effective performance management and development of his/her direct reports, and the effective organisation of everyone within the commercial activity on the project.
  • To deliver effective management information on commercial activity across the project to the Commercial Lead.
  • To provide a commercial appraisal of project for external audit purposes.
  • To mentor and manage junior staff.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing effective commercial practices within a project ensuring:
  • Timely and accurate applications for payment compliant with the contract, Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 if appropriate.
  • Cash Management.

£45,000 - £65,000

Plus car allowance £6,000

Pension 4% plus contributions 4%
