Senior Planner/Planning Associate

Anderselite have pleasure in supporting an established client who have an exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate Senior Planner/Planning Associate for their Newcastle Team.

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and commercially minded Senior Planner or Planning Associate to join our Newcastle office. The successful candidate will work closely with our Leeds office (potentially working from the Leeds office once a fortnight), on a broad range of planning projects. Both offices currently service a mix of small, medium and large development schemes, using their local knowledge and national influence to plan and deliver projects of all types and scales. Projects range from residential, employment and retail through to energy and infrastructure sectors. The team provides invaluable assistance to their clients, and in return enjoy outstanding professional development and career opportunities.

The successful candidate should have excellent technical skills and experience in planning and good knowledge of the North-East planning market and clients. At Associate level the successful candidate will also have client relationships and professional contacts in planning in the regional and local

markets.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

* Promoting large to medium scale residential, mixed-use, employment and other developments (both brownfield and greenfield) through the Local Development Framework and then by coordinating subsequent applications

* Conducting research and site appraisals on projects for our client base

* Preparation, submission and negotiation of planning applications of all sizes/types. At Associate level, running applications, appeals and inquiries, as well as development plan promotions

* Preparation of planning and occasionally socio-economic statements

* Lodging appeals and potentially appearing at Informal Hearings

* Developing client relationships as part of our team. At Associate level, developing client relationships and generating work

* Co-ordination of internal and external project teams and project management/QA

It is essential that candidates:

* Are MRTPI qualified

* Have strong planning experience, including, residential and employment experience

* Have good local planning knowledge in the North East region

* Have experience in consultancy or a similar commercial environment

* Have strong project management skills

* Have an interest and track record in business development. At Associate level, have client contacts and relationships

* An ability to undertake quantitative and sequential assessments

* Are committed and have an eye for detail

* Can work with minimal supervision and have a strong ability to use their own initiative

* Have a strong teamworking capability

* Hold a full UK driving license
