Job description

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Engineer to join our client's team. In this role your core duties will include:

  • Undertake due diligence studies on behalf of funders and investors across a range of bio-energy projects

  • Prepare feasibility, concept design and implementation studies, drafting the technical and commercial aspects of these

  • Develop relationships with Clients and key suppliers

  • Working with Legal Advisors to develop the project Terms and conditions

  • Preparing technical schedules for inclusion in contracts including Employer's Requirements and testing and acceptance criteria

  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines as required

  • Ensure that the technical content of all work carried out is correct and completed in accordance within agreed timescales and budgets.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Previous experience of supporting the overall project management, procurement and contractor management of bio-energy projects

  • Experience in writing control system specifications for process and energy plant

  • Experience in CFD and Thermodynamic modelling

  • Experience in Process safety / SIL assessments, and undertaking DSEAR / HAZOP studies

  • Managing production of Written Schemes of Examination

  • Practical experience of the specification, procurement, commissioning or operation of:

    • Mechanical handling equipment

    • Gas turbines

    • Advanced combustion technologies

    • Flue gas treatment technologies

    • Multi pressure steam systems

    • Steam turbines and auxiliaries

    • Cooling towers

    • Boiler and process water treatment plant

    • Pressure systems, both at the regulatory and design level

    • DCS and integrated plant control systems

  • Supervision of site installation, acceptance testing and certification

    Professional Membership and Qualifications:

  • Required Degree level qualification in a related field

  • Chartered Engineer status

    Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear manner.

  • Ability to work on operating sites in a safe manner without supervision.

  • Ability to focus on the requirements of the task in hand and to recognise and exploit potential variations in scope.

  • Ability to work on own initiative and seek assistance when required

  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that timescales are met

  • Good problem solving/contingency planning skills with ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions

  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues

  • Able to form strong positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and contractor
