This role is responsible for supporting the project lead as part of a team of engineers and technicians producing design solutions for construction. You will have an ability to manage a small team of graduate engineers and technicians and to deliver well considered, quality designs solutions in a manner which upholds the Visions and Values of the Company.

I am seeking a motivated individual with a keen interest in structural, civil or geotechnical engineering and an appreciation of architecture. An interest in temporary works design would be considered desirable.

You will have an ability to identify the challenges, to make a difference, challenge the status quo, ask questions, and deliver the solution.

The successful candidate would be expected to have some experience in the nuclear industry in order to be able to perform detailed design calculations. You would be working alongside a small group of engineers and CAD technicians with extensive experience and expertise within the nuclear sector who are well regarded by their industry peers.

• Production of designs that are right first time.

• Prepare designs in accordance with MDG Procedures.

• Ensure that Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability considerations are adequately addressed.

• Prepare cost and programme for design consultancy bids.

• Provide forensic engineering support to the company to establish efficient solutions to any defects that may arise on any construction project.

• Provide buildability support and due diligence reports on structural design solutions carried out by external consultants.

• Prepare alternative designs for company construction tenders or research any construction methods that may provide commercial advantage for tenders.

• Drive the solution and make a difference.

• Supervise graduate / design engineer(s) along with CAD technicians.

• Provide mentoring, guidance, and hands on training to your team to advance their knowledge and technical competency.

• Coordinate with other disciplines, either internally or externally depending on the project.

• Attend project meetings with both internal and external disciplines and clients and / or their representative.

• Provide support to the company in terms of relevant knowledge and experience.
