Job description

Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer

Yup, Oxford.

Quick fact - Oxford was first settled in Anglo-Saxon times and was initially known as "Oxenaforda", meaning "ford of the oxen" - fords were more common than bridges at that time. It began with the establishment of a river crossing for oxen around AD 900.

Here is something else you didn't know…

If a human being's DNA were uncoiled, it would stretch 10 billion miles, from Earth to Pluto and back, how amazing is that? Also, elephants are the only animals that can't jump -

Still reading - OK, here is one more…

Right now, in the town centre is a pretty impressive civil engineering consultancy that needs more senior civil infrastructure engineers to cope with the demand of the unbelievable works that are going on right now - like 4 of the 5 biggest projects in the area and the largest housing development in a generation, HS2 enabling works and, well, you get the idea…

Impressive stuff.

You'll support our Associate, who is one hell of a leader, by taking on some of our tougher technical design challenges and becoming a valuable leader yourself and a guide to our junior engineers. You'll not only be growing and developing rare leadership and technical skills, but also freeing up our Associate to work more strategically, helping the Oxford office to reaches its potential, faster - for which they reward very handsomely.

I am not kidding, the last offer they sent to me to negotiate this level - I had to sit down and recalculate my commission.

The great thing is they are super open minded - I'm not talking car keys in a bowl, more you could be working in either highways or drainage design, blue chip or SME or both if you have more than four years' experience, but what's important is that you have a wealth of infrastructure-related experience and that you're ready to share it with us. It's vital that you enjoy thinking outside the box, exploring different ideas, offering new and innovative solutions for our clients.

Yup, we will welcome you with a relocation allowance or a generous travel expense if you're already local, time off to settle in and adjust to the new area - we'll even pop round a hang wallpaper for you if need be - just let us know what you need to make it work.

Beyond that it's about personal fit. We're a sociable team who work a friendly, flexible environment - strong office ping pong skills could tip things in your favour and if you have the want to start any social clubs or teach us more about improving office culture then we definitely need to speak.

One final thing - did you know you can't breathe and swallow at the same time? - try it then let me know your amazing fact below - and if you're interested in the job, we proabaly should talk too.
