Salary: Circa £40,000 Per Annum + Package (Negotiable)

Our client, a large Civil Engineering contractor in the UK, is currently recruiting for 2 Section Engineers near the Grays - Essex area, to deliver a new multimillion-pound project, constructing a new port terminal in the local area. The project has just started, and the vision is that the port will be operational within 2 years.

Work on this project will consist of constructing a new portal terminal and berthing facility, completing river bed preparation and sea wall / flood defences, as well as constructing a pontoon and bridges with associated highway and rail works.

Main duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking the management of Site Engineers.
  • Proactively identifying potential issues and opportunities on your section of work, solving issues in the most cost effect manner.
  • Cleary understanding the relevant scope of work ad communicating this with members of the team.
  • Ensuring strong time and budget management on your section of works.
  • Working under the supervision of a Site Manager / Project Manager (or Higher).
  • Supporting the Project and Commercial management team with client and contractor contract negotiations.
  • Undertaking surveying and setting out if and when required.
  • Checking drawings and quantities for your section of work.
  • Scheduling materials for order, with the procurement department.
  • Effectively planning work and organizing site operations to meet the programme of work.
  • Supervising, monitoring and liaising with external subcontractors and suppliers, as well as internal labour.
  • Promoting and implementing Health, Safety and Environmental systems.
  • Ensuring quality records are kept up to date, testing the quality of work completed.
  • Resolving unexpected technical difficulties and any other problems that arise.
  • Keeping paperwork up to date, including site diaries.
  • Ensuring work is delivered in accordance with the specification.

Applicable candidates will ideally have:

  • A formal qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction (i.e. HND or BSc).
  • Experience of delivering similar projects, ideally having worked on dock/marine projects previously.
  • A valid CSCS Card.
  • A valid SMSTS certificate (preferable).
  • A valid First Aid certificate (preferable).
