Job description

Regional Manager - Traffic Management - major national contractor - covering the Eastern region - Newcastle down to the Midlands. £55k-£60k+package (car/allowance, pension, healthcare, bonus scheme)

Objective:-

Providing leadership, guidance and direction to the region, ensuring that all objectives, aims and targets of the contract and associated projects are fully achieved. Safety will always be the key objective for you and your team.

To provide Client interface and lead on the implementation of resource necessary to deliver the business unit strategic plan. The Regional Manager will lead the local contract and national teams to develop and maximise financial budgets, ensuring full compliance with business policies and procedures, whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement and delivery of contract KPI's.

Internally build relationships with General Manager, Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyors, Regional Operations Teams, Regional HR/Area HR Manager, Regional Safety Advisor / TTM Safety Coordinator, CI Manager and externally with customers and supply chain

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND WORK OUTPUTS

  • Lead and ensure delivery of the region's business plan
  • Delivery of business plan Budget(s) £12m working within circa 30 plus contracts & schemes
  • Drive the effective management of any exposure to both financial and contractual risk, maximising financial return on all contracts and ensuring prompt cash collection within contract provisions.
  • Develop & maintain key client relationships.
  • Work closely with internal and external supply to reduce delays and costs incurred through delivery patterns
  • To drive performance improvements within your Area of responsibility and share best practice across the business.
  • Effective management, coaching and development of all direct reports and strategic partners to drive full employee engagement. Successful delivery of the regional business management plan in line with the TTM BMS, within budget and compliance and within safety and business policies & procedures
  • Delivery of contracts with no financial/contractual risks, maximise financial return on contracts, cash collected within required time frame. Be actively involved in the resolution of contract disputes to maximise sustainable profit and cash flow.

Maintain and increase workload. Supporting strategy, and utilisation of in-house materials and resource (upselling Tarmac business externally). Contract Cost Savings and shared best practice.

Employee engagement, low staff turnover, to put in place SMART objectives for all direct reports & review on a quarterly basis, improve staff assessment and talent audits. Enact effective succession planning to improve staff performance and engagement.

To ensure policies and procedures including health and safety requirements are fully compliant with current legislation, and changes are effectively communicated.

Drive performance improvement in relations to zero tolerance towards accidents, instilling a culture of health and safety best practice by setting a personal example. Drive the SHE improvement plan of Zero Harm with no LTI's and delivery of the Contract SHE Improvement Plan. Enact effective investigation planning & reporting in line with company guidelines & timelines. Work closely with the other regional manager, safety coordinator and General Manager to ensure all "Generic" risk assessments and method statements are in place


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE:

Largely qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level) or Degree.
Managerial Experience - proven management experience, ideally within the Temporary Traffic Management industry.
Health & Safety qualified to: NEBOSH general certificate or IOSH managing safety
SMSTS certificated
IT Literate Word Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Google Chrome, Auto
CAD/brics CAD, CONE drawing packages
Operational technical Knowledge
Estimating / Costing
Company Procedures & QA Requirements
Proven Management experience
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Effective communication skills
Good working knowledge Ch. 8 part 1,2,3, current interim DfT advice notes,
TSRGD 2016, Safety of Streetworks & Roadworks Code of Practice.
Preferably qualified to NHSS 12A/12B Foreman &/or TSCO, NHSS 12D M6 &/or M7.
