Salary: £25,000 to £50,000 Per Annum + Package. (Base Salary negotiable on level and relevant experience)

Our client, a large multidisciplinary Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Contractor, is currently recruiting within their commercial department, looking for Junior / Intermediate & Senior Quantity Surveyors & Commercial Managers, to join their growing team on a permanent basis. The roles will be based in the Peterborough or Cambridgeshire area, where you will be part of the Water & Utilities team.

In this role, you will be part of a growing commercial team, responsible for managing the cost of key contracts with large blue-chip clients across the Peterborough, Cambridgeshire & East Anglia regions. The role would suit an Infrastructure bias candidate, located in the East Anglia area, who has ideally working within the Water or Flood Deference sectors and is looking to join a growing commercial team with continual progression opportunities. You will be given the chance to work with and learn from experienced commercial professionals and project management teams, to positively impact existing and upcoming projects, via commercial support and control.

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring cost control is maintained throughout all functions (procurement, delivery, design etc.).
  • Supporting the Project Manager with both project and commercial deliverables.
  • Providing support to and mentoring Assistant Quantity Surveyors, for specific projects.
  • Preparing sub-contract tender packages, carrying out comparisons and placing relevant orders.
  • Being responsible for the management, collation, interpretation and analysis of project commercial records.
  • Supporting the Investment Proposal/Target Cost process, through all of the key milestones.
  • Producing monthly cost & value forecasts, including monthly project review reports.
  • Identifying risk/opportunity vs project spend / budget.
  • Providing sub-contractor management to various projects.
  • Producing impact assessments, early warnings, risk expenditure and compensation event submissions.
  • Managing compliance and suitability surrounding processes and procedures on a project basis.
  • Supporting the Lead or Managing Quantity Surveyor with issues, offering commercial support.
  • Liaising with the Project Accountants to establish accurate cost and cash neutrality reporting.

Candidates will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor (or Assistant Quantity Surveyor) within the Civil Engineering / Infrastructure / Water sectors.
  • Have a competent knowledge of Civil Engineering (Knowledge of Water, Waste Water, Infrastructure, Flood Defence & Prevention projects would be advantageous/desirable).
  • A formal qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar related industry (i.e BSC Degree, HND etc).
  • Strong subcontract management and procurement experience.
  • Experience of working with various forms or contract (i.e. NEC Contracts, or similar).
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience of working on projects from tender stage through to handover, including the tender and target cost process.
  • Previously been included with commercial change control and risk management.
  • Strong IT skills with experience of managing databases.
