Job title: Quantity Surveyor

Based: Head office Lancashire

Site visits: North West based

The client

My client, a busy regional based civil engineering contractor are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This business has a strong track record within the delivery of infrastructure projects up to the value of £1.5m. Their services range from landscaping or junction improvements, right through to full highway construction. Yor role is to is to efficiently manage the financial control on several different sites, in an efficient manner

Typical projects will be

Highways
Roads
Landscaping
Drainage
Walkways
Bridges
Structures

Duties

Preparing and submitting monthly valuations

Liaise with the site teams to assess and prepare compensation events and claims

Weekly site measures & site liaison for records of events

Demonstrate a thorough understanding and competent execution of the monthly reconciled values and updated forecasts

Costing and submitting variations

Keeping all commercial registers up to date

Performing Value management and cost control.

Reporting to head office as per commercial timelines

Arranging payments and valuing completed work.

Authorising subcontractor payments

Agree final accounts with all parties

Assist the financial director and his team in preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting

Estimating Duties:
Prepare cost estimates from drawings, Bills of Quantities, site meeting, in a precise logical and detailed manner, allowing cost build ups to be clearly identified and integrated, for all types of Highway works, including civils, minor structures, drainage & surfacing.

To undertake site measurements to build up detailed Bills of Quantities in line with Standard Method of Measurement, to provide cost estimates for new works or variation costs to existing schemes.

To represent the company in Early Contractor Involvement schemes, providing design, programming, and value engineering advice.

Candidate
Highways/Civils experience

Understanding of NEC3 and JCT Contracts

Experience of working with business systems, spreadsheet development, cost analysis, programme evaluation and development, compensation event and/or variations assessment and evaluation

Good communication and negotiate skills

Able to work to strict deadlines ¬

Knowledge and experience of working in the construction industry ¬

¬Full Clean Driving Licence

£40,000 - £45,000
