Quantity Surveyor Role - Build Sector - Manchester based

Reporting to: Managing Quantity Surveyor

Job Purpose/ Objective:

maintaining the quality of delivery, service and culture within the organisation

Specific tasks

Cost Consultancy, Bank Monitoring and Development: You will need to be able to demonstrate experience of the Procurement and

Development process through feasibility to practical completion, whilst providing accurate and up to date costing information. You

will be analytical, have a flair for numerical data and be prepared to assume responsibility from Procurement to final account.

Working with delivery team to ensure consistent tender documents are issued and of a good standard;

Bank Monitoring:

Manage and undertake regional development monitoring projects originating from GVA's national panel status

Undertaking the initial development appraisal, risk analysis and cost plan reviews etc. for banks/funders;

Work alongside other GVA specialists in the preparation of development appraisals;

Undertaking regular site inspections, attending progress meetings and report to the funder; and

Approve valuation and drawdowns.

Ensure all contract and sub contract management / process obligations are complete with particular reference

to:-

Procurement

Measurement and valuation

Contractual instructions / notices / orders

Health and Safety

Procurement reports

Progress reports as required

Assist with the expansion of the Principal Contractor supply chain;

Compile Bills of Quantities / materials take-offs for live projects, working with the delivery team and assisting in ordering and managing materials on site;

Financial management and reporting of, including production CTC forecasts;

Agree and produce final accounts for agreement with MQS;

Contractor management, including processing of valuation applications and issuing relevant notices within prescribed timeframes;

Working with the internal accounts department ensuring contractor valuations are processed and advised in a timely manner to ensure accurate cash flow forecasting;

Work with MQS to draft standard Contractual Appointments and Warranties from supply chain as required;

Assist the De-Cant/general development team in any ongoing commercial matters.

Skills/Qualifications:

MRICS Chartered status with a good working appreciation of the JCT suite of contracts

Reporting skills/Administrative writing skills.

Construction Methods and technologies

Microsoft Office Skills: competence in Word/Excel programme.

Managing processes/Organisation/Effective time management.

Analysing Information/Problem solving, proactive rather than reactive where possible.

Professionalism in both attitude and appearance at all times.

Ability to manage, build and develop both internal and external relationships to an exceptional level.

£30,000 - £42,000 (flexible)
