Senior Quantity Surveyor - Fit out - Cheshire Based - Perm Role - £40,000 - £50,000 + package

Reporting to:

Commercial Manager

Line management responsibility

Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor (where relevant)

Overall job purpose

2. To support the Commercial Manager in the management of all commercial issues; including the management and development of quantity surveyors and trainee/assistant surveyors

3. To take commercial responsibility for contract performance across the business unit/division to maximise both turnover and profitability

4. To build positive relationships and influence at senior level both internally and with clients

Key areas of responsibility

Technical

  • NEC3/NEC4 form of contract
  • Liaising directly with design teams and client representatives in preparation of tender
  • Commence all relevant work in relation to receipt of a tender enquiry such as analysing the project, breaking out subcontractor and supplier enquiries, selecting suitable subcontractors and suppliers
  • Undertake site surveys to analyse any potential risks and highlight as appropriate
  • Preparation of pricing documents and the formatting of these documents into the standard layout
  • Cost planning at pre-contract and post-contract stages
  • To maximise the Company's cash flow through accurate forecasting of payments and receipts, clear communication with clients and supply chain and swift reconciliation of any cash critical issues
  • Ensuring projects are run in a coordinated manner and in accordance with plans by assisting the contracts team
  • Management of subcontracts, main contracts, valuations and CTV's through to final accounts including preparation and placement of subcontract orders which creates a legally binding contract
  • Fair and reasonable assessment of sub contract valuations and final account agreement in a timely manner
  • Submitting valuations and resultant certification in relation to the progress of works and the value of the specific contract

Candidate

Ideally the candidate with have NEC3 experience

Fit out experience

Must have commercially ran projects from procurement to final accounts

Excellent communication skills

Experience of administration of construction contracts

Experience of working within a medium or large sized contractor

Ability to build strong client / subcontractor relationships

Experience in a client facing role

Experience of managing or mentoring junior members of Commercial staff

Ability to challenge constructively and deliver client led targets

Ability to clearly articulate project needs on a scheme by scheme basis

Delivery of work outputs within set time frames

Commitment, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic

Team player capable of a flexible approach

Ability to work within a team and also as an individual

Energetic & self-motivated

Strong IT capabilities including working experience of Microsoft Office

Experience of commercial and residential projects from inception to completion

Experience of education and health projects may also be an advantage
