Job description

Quantity Surveyor Required - Permanent Role - Derbyshire - Water Industry - £40,000 to £50,000 Per Annum (Salary Negotiable On experience)

Our client, a large national construction contractor operating within the Water & Waste Water sector, is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor, to join their team and assist with major framework contracts, in the local area. The role will involve working with the existing commercial team, to manage multimillion £ contracts, ensuring that projects stay within financial parameters and that any changes or early warning to a contract, as picked up and resolved with the client.

Daily duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Reporting contractual and financial changes to a project, including specifis sections of work and subcontract works packages.
  • Carrying out monthly costs, material reconciliations, identifying early warnings and changes within a contract and raising these early warning notices accordingly, in compliance with the Client change control procedure.
  • Being responsible for managing major Sub-contract packages on a pipeline and reservoir Contract.
  • Prepare and manage subcontract tender packages.
  • Carry out comparisons and place Subcontract Orders where applicable.
  • Manage Subcontract packages, including the valuing of the works, making applications for payment where required; identifying, valuing and agreeing variations and final accounts as appropriate.
  • Be familiar with NEC target cost contracts.
  • Be able to manage client budgets.

Candidates will ideally:

  • Have recent experience, in a similar role, as a Quantity Surveyor.
  • Have worked on projects that compromise Civils, Construction Build & M&E elements.
  • Have strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Be commercially aware and be used to working to strict deadlines.
  • Have a good knowledge of NEC construction contracts is required.
  • Have good IT skills with have experience of databases and Microsoft Office products.
  • Hold relevant qualifications such as a degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying qualification.
