Job Title: Quantity Surveyor.
Location: Rickmansworth.
Sector: Water (Clean Water, Sewage, AMP7, Infrastructure, Civil Engineering).
Requirements: NEC Experience, IChemE Experience (Water Experience Preferred).
Job Type: Contract Role.
Pay Rate: £350.00 to £400.00 Per Day (Negotiable on experience).

Our client, a large Civil Engineering contractor who operate within the Clean Water & Waste-Water industry, is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team, initially on a contract basis, to help deliver projects within the Water industry (Framework Projects).

Overall the role will include working alongside the Contract Delivery Team, to ensure the contractual control, cost management, profitability and cash management of Civil Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical and Combined schemes, predominantly in the water industry, reporting into a Commercial Manager as required.

Day to day duties include but are not limited to:
* Issuing sub-contract tender packages and undertaking contractual evaluation of the tender returns.
* Attending post tender and pre-contract meetings.
* Assessing contract risk and work with the site team to develop and manage mitigation plans.
* Undertaking cost to complete reviews with the contract delivery teams.
* Attending internal and external commercial review meetings.
* Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Managing the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement.
* Final account negotiation, achieving the best possible outcome.
* Preparing / assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works.
* Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement.
* Maximising value and minimising cost, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to monitor and manage the operating cost base.
* Developing and issuing of cost reporting as requested by the client, in relation to spend forecasts, identifying the variance between actual costs against forecasts, within activities.
* Working with the operational teams to deliver and manage performance against the Profit Improvement Plan.
* Managing commercial performance against business targets and Framework KPI's.
* Ensuring that the delivery team are briefed and have sufficient commercial support to monitor and react to budget variances.
* Promoting a culture of integration, continuous improvement and use of best practice across the client base.
Ensuring that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met.

Further duties will include:
o Understanding Contractual clauses and identifying risk/onerous conditions.
o WIP/Cash management.
o CTC Management.
o P&L reporting.
o CVR'S and forecasting.
o Change control (EW's and CE's).
o Delay and Disruption.
o Applications for payment.
o Risk and Opportunities management.
o Driving profit improvement via the project teams.
o Supplier/Sub-Contractor management.
o Working to deadlines.

Applicable candidates will:
* Hold an industry applicable qualification (Degree/ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent etc).
* Have demonstrated working knowledge of NEC (NEC3) and IChemE (Red Book) forms of contract.
* Preferably have previous experience working in the Water / Waste Water / AMP6 or AMP7 sector.
* Ideally have worked their way up from a contracting background (Engineering)
