Civil Engineering
£45,000k - £50,000k plus car allowance, pension, bonus, holidays
This client turns over £40+ million per annuem and provides civil engineering services predominantly in the North West area.
Projects
Infrastructure Services
Our client has a turnover of circa £10m and carries out a wide range of construction services that are managed by highly experienced professionals. All works carried out are completed to full client and industry standards and satisfaction.
Groundworks
They undertake all aspects of groundworks including site clearance, demolition, drainage, earth works, foundations, highways and pavement works.
Concrete Structures
They carry out formwork to accommodate installation of in-situ reinforced concrete. They supply and erect shutters to form slabs, bases, foundations, lift shafts etc.
Drainage
All aspects of drainage works are carried out from deep drainage to local gulley connections. They carry out air testing on all drainage runs to industry standards.
Utility
They cover a wide range of utility works incorporating gas, electricity water and communication ducting.
Duties
Preparing tender and contract documents, this will include bills of quantities with the client.
Ensure the full and proper implementation of the company Procedures.
Performing risk, value management and cost control.
To co-operate with, report to and implement the reasonable directives of the Senior Commercial Manager
To ensure in consultation with the project team that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner so as to protect the companys position in its trading activities.
Performing Value management and cost control.
Prepare accurate draft sub-contracts and/or to approve such drafts as prepared by subordinates to the level of responsibility delegated by the individuals supervisors.
Arranging payments and valuing completed work.
To assist the project team in the administration of sub-contractor performance so as to ensure the economic and timely completion of all sub-contractor liabilities written into sub-contracts.
Record and analyse the impact of variations/design cost control/value engineering.
Participate and advise on programme/delay issues arising from change/variations and to prepare claims for extensions of time.
To prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts.
Participate or lead in Project Meetings.
To participate in dispute avoidance or alternatively resolution.
Ensure the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter.
Strong client facing and negotiating skills
The candidate
Must have experience commercially running civil engineering projects previously
In depth knowledge or different kinds of civil engineering projects such as roads, groundworks, earthworks, bridges, paving, drainage etc.
All applicants with have a strong technical knowledge of the civil engineering / construction industry.
Candidate personality traits hardworking, ambitious, driven, excellent communication skills
The successful applicant has an opportunity to become a member of the senior management team with excellent future prospects within the business.
The role has serious potential to progress into a Commercial Manager within the next 18 months

Candidate requirements
Small civil engineering project experience cira £40,000 to £1million in value
Or construction experience
A degree or apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying
