Quality Manager

We are recruiting for a Quality Manager to work on an exciting Highways Scheme in Lincoln-the Lincoln Eastern Bypass. The scheme delivered over three phases, will run through to spring 2020 and will involve the construction of 7.5km of road, four new roundabouts and several structures over rail, road and water.

Role Overview:

The purpose of the Quality Manager is to assess the procedural requirements for quality assurance matters and to establish, monitor and be responsible for the effective implementation and development our business management system, reporting to the senior management team on project performance of the Quality Assurance processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

H&S and Environment

  • Safety is the cornerstone of strategy therefore Health and Safety considerations are central to all tasks and contribute to ensuring safe working environment for all

Quality and Document Control

  • Understand and implement the Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies and Targets
  • Comply, as appropriate, with the processes contained within the Project Quality systems
  • Suggest and implement necessary improvements to the Project Quality systems
  • Ensure use of the Project document management system
  • Considers the need to satisfy customer requirements with the aim of enhancing the customers' perception and satisfaction

Business Management System (BMS)

  • Ensuring that the BMS (HSEQ) complies with the requirements of EN ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards
  • Manage the certification process in close liaison with Management Team and Board
  • Preparation, issue and maintenance of the BMS
  • Ensure up to date management systems are made available as appropriate at points of use
  • Monitor, review and update procedures as required
  • Manage the certification process
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of the business management system
  • Support the team as needed in the improvement of procedures, forms and guidance as needed in delivery
  • Champion and reinforce the use of the business management system throughout the project lifetime in a 'business as usual' state
  • Provide assistance and advice to Site Management and Department Managers on implementation of the processes and data structure
  • Ongoing mentoring of team members on all areas of business management system
  • Liaise with Parent Organisations to ensure alignment and / or approved deviation as appropriate from parent organisation procedural requirements

Audit

  • Maintain and implement an audit programme to cover projects and departments in accordance with the agreed frequency, ensuring that all procedures are audited at least once per year and report on progress against the programme
  • Maintain and manage a list of trained internal auditors
  • Promote and capture best practice during audits
  • Liaise with external audit or assessment bodies as required

Management Review

  • Report to Management on the level of compliance with planned arrangements and the effectiveness of the management systems (HSEQ)

Communication and Training

  • Communicate internally on the outcome of audits and management systems review
  • Promote customer focus through quality systems inductions
  • Train internal auditors on the requirements of the audit documentation
  • Facilitate problem solving, improvements and clarification of due processes

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A working knowledge of Business Management Systems and contractual documentation
  • Possession of ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualifications, or Internal Auditor qualifications with the relevant experience of the Construction industry; within major projects and/or highways is ideal
  • Good technical education to at least degree level
  • Appropriate professional qualifications and/or extensive technical experience within Civil construction work would be desirable for this senior role
  • Computer literate (MS Office suite of software) including MS Visio, with excellent report writing and spreadsheet skills
  • Full Driving Licence
  • The ability to lead a team of internal auditors and offer clear quality assurance guidance to all levels of management
  • Excellent communication skills, with a positive attitude and the ability to work with and manage a team which ensures that quality and contractual issues are identified and closed out in a timely manner
