Project Manager

Highways - Area 10 Framework

Up to £57'000 per annum plus car allowance + package

Working with a national contractor, a highways and road construction specialist, I am now looking for a Project Manager with experience of delivering large Highways projects, most notably with street lighting and technology expertise. This role is for the Area 10 framework, based out of the regional office in Preston. As the successful candidate you will be well versed in Highways England projects, with essential skills to chair meetings with clients, public and authorities. The role will be office-based, with site visits when required.

Key essential experience:

  • Delivery and management of Highways England projects.
  • Delivery of street lighting and technology on Highways projects.
  • Experience in the use of design software
  • Able to provide technical leadership and support the development of more junior engineers
  • Overseeing all H&S on site and upkeep of records
  • Good commercial understanding and able to prepare fee estimates for design works
  • Commercial management of small and large scale schemes
  • Client liaison as necessary to deliver the schemes/projects
  • Production of technical reports as required
  • To manage changing workload patterns to meet demands
  • Proactively manage the project resources available to deliver project requirements
  • To monitor the fees of ongoing packages of work against set targets
  • To set and work to deadlines and targets, for oneself and others
  • To manage a Team's fee-earning profiles against forecast and actual costs


  • To manage the engineering resources available to undertake all aspects of project delivery from feasibility through concept design, to detailed design through to construction and on to completion.
  • To determine and implements programmes of work.
  • Prepare and manage project fee proposals against targets.
  • Prepare and manage project cost plans.
  • To ensure projects are undertaken and specified to meet the requirements of quality, health and safety, environmental standards, to time and to both national and corporate standards.
  • To manage a team of engineers and technicians to deliver a variety of projects over a range of complexities.
