Job Type: Permanent Role.
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 Per Annum + Package. (Negotiable on experience)

Our client, a large Civil Engineering contractor who operate within the Clean Water & Waste-Water industry, is currently looking for a Project Manager to join their team on a permanent basis, to help deliver projects within the Water industry (Framework Projects).

Overall the role will include being accountable for the delivery of projects, managing internal staff and subcontractors, scheduling workload, approving Risk Assessments and Method Statements, ensuring that all work is carried out safely, efficiently & accurately, therefore ensuring the project sticks to the pre-agreed programme. You will also be responsible for the delivery of each project, as well as developing a strong relationship with the end client.

Day to day duties include but are not limited to:

  • Being accountable/responsible for managing project delivery outputs including programme, financial position, health safety, environmental performance and progress for all allocated schemes.
  • Managing staff at varying levels, providing leadership, staff development and retention of key personnel.
  • Interacting with senior representatives with end clients.
  • Having a solid understanding of NEC 3 contract conditions and an astute commercial awareness.
  • Daily management of multiple concurrent projects, to ensure the successful delivery of the project against the project KPI's (codebook completion dates for example).
  • Ensuring that all projects are delivered in accordance with current Health & Safety regulations, including CDM, & Environmental legislation.
  • Reviewing subcontractor RAMS, Process Impact Assessments and Environmental legislation.
  • Ensuring compliance with company safety, environmental and quality systems.
  • Liaising with clients' to ensure KPI's are met/exceeded within budget constraints
  • Manage a project team, ensuring that each member has a clear set of objectives.
  • Develop and motivate all team members.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the development of the direct labour resources.
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of each project with overall responsibility for Profit/Loss on contracts undertaken.
  • Participating in monthly financial reviews for all schemes with the Commercial Manager, ensuring that all Project Engineers have prepared accurate financial performance reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with all company commercial and financial procedures.
  • Establishing and agreeing price variations and final accounts.
  • Preparing estimates and quotations & provide tender vetting for others.
  • Developing detailed project programme, with the Project Planner, ensuring that Plans are maintained, to drive the project to key deliverable milestones.
  • Ascertain preliminary and detailed design/project requirements and solutions.
  • Closely liaise with other departments, such as tendering and design, to ensure resources are correctly allocated and client requirements are fully achieved.
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installations and construction teams.
  • Procuring plant, materials and specialist subcontractors.
  • Ensuring that project resources are made available to attend/undertake factory site and works testing, commissioning and client training.
  • Attending internal and external review and progress meetings.
  • Attending site visits/meetings.
  • Ensuring that all contract documentation such as, "As built" drawings, Commissioning Manuals and Operation and Maintenance Manuals are prepared in line with the client specifications / closeout timescales.

Candidates will ideally:

  • Hold an industry applicable qualification (Degree/ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent etc)
  • Hold relevant qualifications such as IOSH, SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid.
  • Have previous experience delivering projects within the Water industry (Water Treatment, Sewage Treatment Works etc).
