Job description

Our client, a well known industry leader in the field of geotechnical engineering, are looking for a Project Manager with experience in slope stabilisation (nailing, anchoring, meshing etc) and relevant experience in piling, grouting and other geotechnical techniques.
Previous experience on rail or highways contracts would be advantageous. Contracts that the successful candidate could find themselves working on could range in value widely, from as little as £150,000 up to £50 million.


Purpose of the role is: To lead, manage and oversee a project team providing exceptional quality for customers in a safe working environment to meet current and future business needs.


Key Duties to include:

. Managing the safe and profitable delivery of a project and contract in accordance with company policy and procedures.
. Ensuring processes are in place for the preparation, review and briefing of method statements, activity plans and risk assessments and measures are implemented to ensure they are reviewed and updated accordingly.
. Providing tender advice on potential compliance issues, technical approach and opportunities for alternative scope
. Establishing, maintaining and monitoring an effective, programme based cost management system, to facilitate financial control with reliable QF preparation and reporting.
. Ensuring timely production of factual and detailed interpretative reports and accurate, clear take-off sheets and valuations.
. Seek out opportunities for opportunities to increase value through the implementation of BIM.
. Encouraging repeat business by adopting a professional attitude with clients and stakeholders.
. Leading and Managing all staff and personnel assigned to you. And working with the HR dept and others, to manage the deployment and re-deployment of staff and personnel.
. Leading and managing the project team, ensuring high levels of commitment, morale and motivation at all levels.
. Preparing and delivering internal technical seminars.
. Encouraging repeat business by adopting a professional attitude with clients and stakeholders.
. Communicating effectively and professionally with everyone associated with the project and the wider community.
. Providing operational, strategic and contractual direction for the whole project team.
. Setting a personal example in HSQE matters through strong, visible leadership (including safety tours).
. Adopting, maintaining and promoting cost-conscious management through efficient use of all resources.
. Ensuring realistic programmes are prepared, managed and reviewed according to the requirements of the project and contract.
. Implementing and maintaining an effective programme based cost management system to facilitate financial control with reliable QF preparation and reporting.
. Developing and maintaining a good working relationship with the client, their project management team and supply chain.
. Maintain a close working relationship with company departments to maximise support for the project and for opportunities to share best practice.
. Assisting the acquisition, preparing and review of tenders, with particular focus on planning, methodology and design.
. Keeping abreast of developments in the industry and specific professional fields including developing and delivering internal technical seminars.
. Maintain CPD record and CV
. Carry out any other relevant duties as required from time to time.

Driving licence essential and personal mobility essential

Qualifications and Experience Required:

. Experience of project management
. Demonstration/experience of financial management, commercial and business development
. Masters Degree/Degree in Civ Eng / Eng Geology or similar
. Qualified to ICE/IOMMM Chartered Engineer
