Job Description

Our client, a leading engineering contractor within the construction market, is currently adding heads to their teams, looking for a Project Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

In this role you will control the delivery of multiple construction projects, typically valued between £1 Million - £5 Million, which will range from small scale refurbishments, through to larger new build projects, all at the Rolls Royce plant in Raynesway, Derby.

You will get the opportunity to work on projects through the full project life cycle, including estimating, design, engineering, construction, commissioning and handover stages and the role will suit candidates who have worked on multi-disciplined design & build construction / civil engineering projects previously, being able to offer engineering expertise to the end client. You will ideally also be competent with planning and executing programmes of work for Civil Engineering/Construction projects.

Daily duties will include but are not limited to: 

  • Developing effective working relationships with fellow team members and clients, to maximise the opportunities to secure and win new work.
  • Providing technical engineering advice to fellow members of the team and clients, and when necessary, supporting the successful execution of agreed work.
  • Ensuring Project Engineering services are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
  • Working with Clients to develop relationship’s that results in repeat business.
  • Ensuring Project Engineering and technical standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle, meeting specification requirements and in accordance with Quality Management Systems and Control.
  • Ensuring project Risk is managed and communicated.
  • Reporting to the senior management team on project progress, issues, risks, and opportunities etc.

Candidate will ideally:

  • Hold a relevant qualification in Construction / Civil Engineering, such as a HNC/HND (Or similar).
  • Have experience successfully delivering construction projects (Managing NEC3 framework contracts - Advantageous).
  • Have a strong knowledge of H&S management as well as having commercial awareness.
  • Have strong I.T., organisation and communication skills. (Helpful for forecasting and reporting).
  • Have direct labour and subcontractor management experience 
  • Have the ability to sequence and programme works, utilising different planning and programming methods/ techniques.
  • Have experience in the production of O&M Manuals and drawings documents.
  • Have basic skills and knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Be able to review subcontractor RAMS to ensure safe working practices on site.
  • Be aware of the in-depth vetting process required to qualify for an MOD security pass for site (including criminal/ family/ financial checks)
