Our client, a specialist subcontractor within structural inspection, repair and refurbishment, has an excellent opportunity available for a Project Manager (Or Site Agent) to join their team on a permanent basis. They are looking for someone with Civil Engineering experience, able to offer candidates training and development within this specialist field.

The role would suit candidates with several years Site or Project Management experience (within a civil engineering environment), who is looking to find a niche within the civil engineering sector, bias towards structures and structural repair. Candidates will ideally have experience overseeing subcontractors, managing quality control and QA, with the ability to understand programming logically, with additional experience of using Project Programming software being advantageous. You will ideally have experience overseeing a cohesive site team and reporting monthly at Progress Meetings representing our client and the works site has completed to date.

Works will include: Concrete Repair, Cathodic Protection, Corrosion Control, Coatings, Membranes, Anchors/Remedial Ties, Structural Strengthening, Grouting & Injection, Cleaning & Preparation, ECI (Early Contractor Involvement), External Façade Refurbishment, Condition Surveys, Bridge Jacking, Bearing Replacement, Leak Sealing, slurry sealing, Tunnel Lining, Precast Tunnels, Retaining Walls, Brickwork Repair, Sprayed Concrete

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Forecasting works, having a good understanding of working on NEC based projects implementing EWN’s and CE’s.
  • Managing change and seeking out all commercial opportunities that either present themselves or that you can seek out.
  • Recording all events on site in the various recording mediums for “as built” information.
  • Taking control and being responsible for everything that happens on site and having a good safety-based knowledge of how to execute the work.
  • Communicating clearly - both written and spoken is another imperative.
  • Liaising with senior management and client, able to report upwards to line managers in a calm, authoritative, organised and logical manner.
  • Managing both direct and agency operatives as well as subcontractors working under you.
  • Utilising prior knowledge of Concrete Repair / Cathodic Protection would be advantageous, however good experience in a broad number of civils disciplines will also bring a required skillset to the business.

Candidate will ideally:

  • Hold a relevant qualification in Civil Engineering (i.e Degree, HND, HNC etc).
  • Have a valid membership such as ICorr (or similar – Advantageous).
  • Have 2 – 5 years post graduate experience, working within civil engineering.
  • Have a valid CSCS card.
  • Have additional qualifications such as SMSTS, SEATS, First Aid etc.
  • Be able to read construction drawings.
  • Possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
