Job Description:

Our client, a large, established and growing principal contractor within the Civil Engineering sector, is currently looking to add a Project Manager to join their Water team, on a permanent basis. The role will entail delivering Clean Water and Waste Water Treatment Works, amongst other AMP7 Water infra schemes, across the Severn Trent Water region.

The applicable Project Manager will have proven ability and experience in successfully delivering Water schemes circa £5 Million to £20 Million in value (or above), that vary in complexity. The candidate will be based out of a Nottingham office, and will be required to travel across multiple sites across the Severn Trent, to ensure that works maintain set schedules and that works progress as planned, to the required quality.   

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Taking responsibility for the management of projects including delivery, programme, commercials and HSQE.
  • Managing staff at various levels, providing leadership, staff development and retention of key personnel.
  • Interacting with senior representatives / clients.
  • Responsible for the daily management of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ensuring the successful delivery of the project against the project KPI’s.
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with current HSQE regulations, including CDM regulations.
  • Reviewing in-house/subcontractor RAMS, Process Impact Assessments and Environmental legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety, environmental and quality systems.
  • Assist the Delivery Manager with the development of the direct labour resources.
  • Assume responsibility of the financial performance of each project with overall responsibility for Profit/Loss.
  • Produce project performance reports and participate in monthly financial / programme reviews for all schemes with the Commercial Manager, Delivery Manager and Regional Director.
  • Ensure compliance with all company commercial and financial procedures.
  • Completion of relevant contract documentation.
  • Establishing and agreeing price variations and final accounts.
  • Preparing estimates and quotations & provide tender vetting for the wider team.
  • Develop detailed project programmes, in conjunction with the project planner, driving key deliverable milestones.
  • Ascertain preliminary and detailed design/project requirements and solutions.
  • Closely liaise with other departments, such as tendering and design, to ensure resources are correctly allocated and client requirements are fully achieved.

  • Co-ordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installations and construction teams.
  • Procurement of plant, materials and specialist subcontractors.
  • Ensuring project resources are available to attend/undertake factory site and works testing, commissioning and client training, as well as attending internal and external review and progress meetings.
  • Preparing client contract documentation such as, “As built” drawings, Commissioning Manuals and Operation and Maintenance Manuals.

Candidates will ideally have:

  • Prior experience delivering AMP Water projects circa £5 Million to £20 Million (or above).
  • An applicable qualification such as a Degree/ONC/HNC/BEng or NVQ.
  • Relevant qualification such as SMSTS, IOSH, CSCS.
  • Understanding of NEC contract conditions.
  • Good IT skills and commercial awareness
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
