Job Title: Project Engineer (Water / Mechanical)
Location: Watford, North West London

Job Type: Permanent Role (Contract roles also considered)
Salary: Circa £48,000 to £50,000 Per Annum + Package

Our client, a large Civil Engineering contractor who operate within the Clean Water & Waste-Water industry, is currently looking for a Project Engineer to join their team, ideally on a permanent basis (Contract roles still considered). The role will be based out of a regional office near Watford and will entail working on AMP7 Water projects (Mechanical aspects) bias towards emergency repairs and reactive maintenance/call out works.

Day to day duties include but are not limited to:

  • Being responsible for the individual management of Mechanical schemes, bias towards quick turnaround projects and emergency repair works.
  • Working on projects from inception to completion, outline engineering, utilising in-house resources, site installation and construction personnel.
  • Working on multiple projects at any given time, ensuring they are delivered in a timely manner, safely and within budget.
  • Liaising with the end clients' engineering and operations staff, to ensure KPI's are met / exceeded, within budget constraints.
  • Attending required site visits and client meetings, as well as internal and external review/progress meetings.
  • Ascertaining preliminary and detailed designs, taking project requirements and creating effective solutions.
  • Preparing estimates and quotations for work.
  • Completing all required contract documentation.
  • Managing site safety, health and environmental issues.
  • Co-ordinating and liaising with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installations and construction teams, to ensure work progresses as planned.
  • Procuring plant, materials and specialist subcontractors.
  • Attending and undertaking factory site and works testing, commissioning and client training.
  • Compiling final contract documentation, As-Built drawings and test sheets etc, for inclusion into O&M Manuals.
  • Taking responsibility for the Profit/Loss on contracts undertaken.
  • Establishing and agreeing price variations and final accounts.

Candidates will ideally:

  • Have previously worked in a similar role, within the Water industry, on AMP6 Clean Water or Waste Water / Sewage projects.
  • Hold an industry applicable qualification, such as a BEng, BSc, ONC/HNC, or equivalent, in a Mechanical Discipline.
  • Have a strong knowledge of Clean Water or Sewage Water industry, bias towards emergency repairs / reactive maintenance / call out works.
  • Have a solid awareness of Commercial and Contractual requirements/documentation.
  • Be IT literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft and Google packages.
