Job description

Our client are seeking a Project Controls Manager to work on a long term contract assignment in Central Birmingham supporting the delivery of processes and tasks relevant to successful delivery of HS2 project.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with the Project Controls planner to collect and report weekly progress updates against the baseline work-streams, including, but not limited to: Cost estimate, Delivery schedule, Value engineering opportunities; Scope changes; Risk and Benefits.
  2. Update and maintain the Baseline Actions log, recording actions as they are raised either internal to the project or from external interfaces
  3. Develop / improve reporting tools / methods to coordinate the baseline delivery and outputs and support management of the Baseline outputs.
  4. Prepare and maintain presentation materials as required to assist communication of baseline activities and critical issues at various levels, for example: Cost Waterfalls, What-if strategy scenarios, Board papers, Progress and status updates.
  5. Maintain and update the Baseline Project Execution Plan, including tracking of review actions and governance.
  6. Attend, minute and track actions at the Baseline Working Group meetings.
  7. Attend project coordination meetings to keep up to date with project developments and feed into Baseline Working group.
  8. Maintain and coordinate responses to programme-level risk registers.
  9. Coordinate with Sponsorship Lead and Engineering Interface Manager to maintain and track project scope and develop the Baseline Scope Book.
  10. It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Understanding of the aspects of project delivery relating to Baselines (cost, schedule, scope definition, etc.)
  • Degree, HND or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Preferably, Chartered status with a relevant body.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all partners and stakeholders
  • Presentation skills to support preparation of Board Papers, progress reports and status presentations
