Job Title: Project Commercial Director

Summary of Role:
Responsible to the Project Director for all commercial aspects of a a project turning over circa £50m per annum
Provide support to the project and the wider organisation through an in depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes
Responsible for a team of project-based commercial staff, including selection and recruitment strategy
Provides commercial support to the divisional business and group
Working alongside the Project Lead undertaking the role of the Commercial lead for the Project interfacing with the Joint Venture, Employer and the supply Chain. Also responsible for internal and external project reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control. The Main Contract will be NEC 4

Tasks & Responsibilities:
Business Leadership
Understand the commercial and technical impact of change at a strategic level within the industry and the effect on the customer's business
Actively supports organisational change
Actively seeks and promote "continuous change" - manages changing circumstances
Identify areas of non / low performance and implement suitable rectification measures
Ensure that commercial processes and procedures are implemented on the project and monitor as appropriate
Tendering and Pre-Contract Activities
Provide commercial advice to the tendering process when required
Prepare commercial reports for tenders when required
Take a key role in contract negotiations with clients and adopt a major part in achieving satisfactory outcomes in terms of profit and customer satisfaction
Define accurately and concisely the commercial parameters of opportunities, ensuing they are in line with the business plan
Support development plans for capturing new opportunities
Contribute toward supply chain and commercial strategy post-tenders
Ensures project start up procedures are implemented
Ensures procurement policy and process compliance on the project
Ensuring compliance with supply chain strategy
Applications for Payment and Invoicing
Ensure cash flow and profit are maximised
Monitor and ensure prompt resolution of final accounts, including settlement of variations, claims and disputes
Cost Control
Manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficiencies on the project
Accounting and Reporting
Manage the preparation of monthly site financial reporting (Project Manager Reports and Cost Value Reports)
Ensure the production of accurate and timely Project Accounts
Report to the sector accounts meeting
Verification and monitoring of monthly site financial reporting (Project Manager Reports and Cost Value Reports)
Risk and Opportunity Management
Identification of business risk and opportunities on the project
Change Control
Ensure that robust change control procedures are in place on the project.
Programming and Project Controls
Champion and promote programming skills development, where appropriate, earned value management
Subcontract Administration
Ensure robust subcontract change control procedures are in place and adhered to.
Monitor and ensure prompt resolution of final accounts, including settlement of Compensation Events (variations), claims and disputes
Project Completion
Ensure projects are closed out in a timely fashion and that closure targets are achieved

Degree Qualified
Professional Membership:
Relevant Experience:
10+ years experience. Preferable to have previous Civil Engineering / NEC experience.
