Job description

My client is in the market for a Pre-Construction Manager to join their team and cover the large amount of Energy from Waste projects (EFW) that they have on.

The business has a vast history and a well-known and reliable reputation. They have had much success in the previous EFW projects and aim to continue this with the appointment of this position.

The role is to cover the entire UK market but is operated out of either West Yorkshire or North Lincolnshire and the salary and package is very much negotiable with a very good package included.

The role:

Overall performance of pre-construction process in line with business strategy.

  • Ensure potential opportunities are reviewed for alignment with agreed selection criteria and confirm once received.
  • Clearly establish customer requirements.
  • Allocate staff and agree tender strategy.
  • Ensure at settlement, and order, that key business requirements are met.
  • Ensure tenders are competently handed over to production.
  • Ensure feedback from projects is linked into the pre-construction process.
  • Assist in delivering the turnover required by the regions.
  • Establish measurement criteria to monitor performance.

Review and improvement of systems and procedures.

  • Review IT and control systems and ensure these are developed and improved to enhance performance.
  • Obtain and act on feedback from within outside the pre-construction process improve performance.
  • Benchmark performance against competitors.

Development of Pre-construction organisation and people.

  • Establish a clear understanding of:

Purpose, Vision and Values "Pre-construction" roles and goals Individual roles and responsibilities

  • Review skill needs and implement training/recruitment.
  • Ensure that appraisal properly addresses the needs of the pre-construction process and the individual staff.
  • Lead by example.
  • Provide feedback on performance and recognition where deserved.
  • Build a multi-skilled flexible team.

Improvement of relationships with all internal and external customers.

  • Set an example for customer focus.
  • Establish positive relationships with tender customers wherever possible, as a bases for development.
  • Establish key relationships with "suppliers" (Designers and QS practices, subcontractors, subcontract procurement, production managers, etc)
  • Regularly liaise with production departments to maximise relevant involvement in tender preparation.

Help in developing and instigating policies and strategies that support the division and its Management.

  • Keep managers regularly informed of relevant developments.
  • Provide positive input into senior management workshops, new initiatives etc.
