Job description

Planner - Water Industry - Peterborough - Permanent role - £40,000 to £46,000 Per Annum + Package (Negotiable on relevant experience)

Our client, a large construction contractor within the Civil Engineering / Water / Infrastructure sector, is looking for a Planner to join their team on a permanent basis and work alongside one of their main clients (Anglian Water). The successful candidate will ideally have strong experience working within the Water / Wastewater sector and have successfully planned programmes of work for projects within large Frameworks (i.e. AMP 5/6). In this role, you will provide and maintain a robust plan of works and motivate the core delivery team to deliver programmes of work/project on time and in alignment with the agreed delivery strategy.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide robust challenge to the delivery team in relation to project performance.
  • Ensure planning practices and standards are consistent across each individual project.
  • Lead the Plan for Stage process including development of robust delivery plans and understand constraints and sequences.
  • Provide intelligence on project delivery to facilitate better decision making.
  • Production of the required project reports including identification of project risks and opportunities.
  • Responsible for the implementation of collaborative planning polices/procedures, as defined by the Planning Manager.
  • Responsible for the production and look ahead meeting/process to ensure it is robustly and consistently applied across all projects.
  • Using a collaborative approach, to create and maintain robust resource & cost loaded plans for all projects in the programme.
  • Pro-actively produce what if scenarios to identify delivery improvement opportunities or the development of mitigation plans.
  • Resource load plans in collaboration with the lead disciplines to provide programme wide visibility of resource demand.
  • Ensure the importance of the critical path activities and the sensitivity of other activities are communicated to the relevant stakeholders and these are being acted on by the delivery team.

Candidates will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as Planner, ideally within the Water Sector.
  • Previous experience using Primavera P6 to plan and programme work.
  • Effective communication and organisation skills.
  • A proactive nature, being able to take responsibility for:
    • The value the H&S and personnel wellbeing.
    • Engaging with customers and stakeholders to achieve positive solutions.
    • Ensuring internal departments and 3rd parties work together and implement work collaboratively.
    • Personal and team development, responding positively to change in processes.
    • Driving continuous improvement and actively share learning.
