Our client, a large national construction contractor operating within the Water & Waste Water sector, is currently looking for an Intermediate Planner/Junior Planner to join their team on a permanent basis, due expansion and an increase in work load. This will include planning work for the Water Infrastructure sector and would suit a well organised individual with an understanding of the end to end process involved from tender design to construction.

Ideally, our client is looking for a candidate with construction planning experience and it is preferable that the applicable candidate has water or civil engineering experience, however candidates from other sectors will be considered. The candidate must however have an understanding of general resources including materials, plant and labour.

To be successful in this role, you will need to display excellent communication skills, and as you will play a critical role in communicating technical issues to both site and office-based employees. Whilst you will need to be self-motivated with the ability to work off your own initiative, we are particularly looking for someone with strong teamwork skills.

Our client currently uses Microsoft Project, Excel and other Office packages, as well as Primavera PE3 v.6 & P6.

Candidates will ideally have:

  • Previously experience working on or Planning Water/Wastewater projects
  • Understanding and knowledge of NEC forms of contract
  • Sub contract management and procurement experience
  • Prepare enabling/planning strategies in line with regulatory requirements
  • Preparation of Reports to support Planning Applications and Screening Opinions
  • Negotiation with Local Authorities to enable least cost designs to be approved
  • Be Pro-active and participate as a key player in a dynamic team
  • Work collaboratively within a team
  • Focus on an overall programme, not just a single project
  • Understand the impact of change on the project, the programme, cost and resource.
