Job description

Microstation CAD Technician responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects within the Rail Engineering Sector. Projects will range from a number of smaller projects to large multi-million pound projects. You will be working in multi-disciplinary teams, some of your roles and responsibilities will include:
* Preparation of project design drawings
* Coordinate with internal & external team members / design teams to assist in the Design process, providing independent checking & review services where required.
* Liaise with colleagues, other departments and project teams with respect to drawing requirements
* Provide the Project Engineering Team with CAD & Design support throughout the project.
* Ensure that drawings are prepared, stored, issued and archived in accordance with company procedures
* Ensure that chargeable work can be evaluated by the preparation of adequate records of time spent
* Train other staff members on the use of Microstation by means of individual coaching group training courses as appropriate
* Assist, when required, with storage, filing and archiving of documents
* Becoming familiar and compliant with our Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies and to promote SHEW culture within your team

Essential Qualifications & Skills
* Substantial experience in being a CAD Technician
* Competent in the use Bentley MicroStation (2D/3D) and ProjectWise
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising planners, designers, engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance to less experienced members of the team.
* Able to manage your own time to meet project deadlines and budget targets.
* Ability to respond to Project Manager and Client requests and meet challenging deadlines.
* Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

* Technician experience within the Rail sector
* Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
* UK Driving Licence is desirable
