Job description

Mechanical Engineer (MEICA) Required - Start ASAP - Birmingham/Midlands Based - Water Sector (AMP 6) - £200 to £300 Per Day (Negotiable on Experience)

Our client, a national Civil Engineering/Construction contractor, who operates within the Water sector (part of the AMP 6 Framework) are looking for Mechanical Engineers to assist their M&E team in Birmingham/West Midlands. These roles have come up, due to an increase in work, within the waste sector. In this role, you will be required to complete detailed design work, as well as write and form subcontracts (NEC3), expedite subcontracts, all the way through design, manufacture, installation (including site visits and management of safety and quality) and commissioning (MEICA). Typical projects will include sludge and dewatering plants, however future work may lay within the waste water or clean water sectors. An overview of this roles will include managing the engineering of waste schemes, subcontract development and management, through to safe and quality delivery on site. The role will run from inception through to completion and will suit candidates who have strong experience of working on projects from inception through to completion (full lifecycle).

You will be responsible for:

  • Supervising/Managing sub-contract design.
  • Ensuring all technical work is undertaken to the correct standards and specifications.
  • Ensuring services are delivered to the client (drawings, specifications, estimating packs) on time and to cost/quality standards.
  • Creating/maintaining MEICA schedules and data sheets, including pipe and valve schedules.
  • Engineering calculations (hydraulic, pump hydraulic, carbon, TOTEX calculations, etc.)
  • Material selection and technical bid analysis.
  • Completion of as-built records for O&M manual production.
  • The mechanical elements of standard designs and products to aid repeatability within designs, supporting the Benefits by Design and Industrialised Construction initiatives.
  • The development & improvement of MEICA design processes & procedures to ensure design quality, consistency & repeatability.
  • Support efficient out-sourcing and off-shoring to expand our technical capability, improve design efficiency & manage peaks in workload

Candidates will ideally:

  • Experience of working in a similar role on Water and Waste Water Plant projects/treatment processes.
  • Have worked contractor side, as a MEICA Project Engineer.
  • Have experience of detailed design.
  • Have experience of writing and forming subcontracts (NEC3), expediting subcontracts, all the way through design, manufacture, installation (including site visits and management of safety and quality) and commissioning.
  • Ideally Minimum 3 years' experience
