Pay Rate: £22.00 - £26.00 Per Hour (Negotiable)

Our client, a large Civil Engineering / Construction contractor who operate within the Water industry, are looking for a Mechanical Supervisor to work on one of their key projects for Severn Trent Water. The contract will last for 3 - 6 months and is subject to extension due to the long length of the construction programme. In this role, you will report into a Construction Manager and be responsible for overseeing Mechanical Installation activities on site, ensuring that all works are constructed to specification and to the highest standard possible. This will include working with the client to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective solutions are delivered, as well as maintaining health, safety and quality aspects, throughout the process.

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering mechanical installations on or ahead of the agreed construction programme.
  • Inspecting and making sure works are completed in line with the required standard and specifications.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety is highest priority on site.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplined team, assisting other trades where possible/required.
  • Ensuring contractor and client procedures are upheld or exceeded.
  • Co-ordinate / liaise with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installations and construction teams.
  • Maintain accurate daily records.
  • Driving the installation, testing and certification of all aspects of the mechanical installation.
  • Assist in the installation at times, if and when required.
  • Proactive approach to resolving problems that may arise during the construction process.
  • Ensuring all health and safety documentation is in place, prior to work commencing, and that all policies are adhered to.
  • Briefing and recording of toolbox talks.

Candidates will ideally have:

  • Previously worked on a Water Treatment Plant, or Wastewater / Sewage Treatment Plant, or other applicable Infrastructure plants/projects.
  • Be comfortable working on a variety of mechanical installations including small and large diameter pipes (15mm up 1600mm), with all associated pumps, valves, stopcocks etc.
  • Holding a relevant qualification for Mechanical Engineering (I.e. HND/HNC/Degree/C&G etc)
  • Hold additional qualifications such as EUSR, confined spaces, CSCS Card, SSSTS/SMSTS etc.
