Job description

I am recruiting on behalf of a successful, well established and diverse national infrastructure contractor that are heavily involved in the water industry. They have successfully delivered numerous projects for the southern area of Severn Trent Water's (STW) Non-Infrastructure Water and Wastewater framework over AMP5 and AMP6, they have recently been re-appointed for the AMP7 period (2020-2025).

Due to recently securing a £30M project at Finham STW near Coventry that involves the design and construction of a Thermal Hydrolysis Plant (THP) and BioGas to Grid (BtG) scheme to be completed by October 2021. They have a requirement for 2 Mechanical Package Managers. Reporting directly to the MEICA Manager and accountable to the Whole Life Project Manager, the fundamental requirement of this role is to have a track record of successfully managing the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects.

Key duties and responsibilities of these roles include:

General Management

o To liaise with design and delivery partners to ensure that the best Mechanical solutions are selected and implemented

o Ensure technical input and expertise is best utilised

o Timely production of regular reports to the MEICA Manager and/or Whole Life Project Manager

o Responsible for the production of mechanical programme and costs

o Production of tender documents for mechanical elements

Client Facing

o Building and maintaining relationships with service delivery mechanical maintenance technicians and Senior Authorised Persons (SAP) within the Client organisation

o Providing reports and other briefings to service delivery on the mechanical aspects of projects

o Liaison with the STW management team within both Capital Delivery and Service Delivery

o Active participation in the Client's COMM Cells

Technical

o Historical successful experience of THP and/or BtG projects is essential/highly desirable

o Knowledge and experience of the mechanical engineering commensurate with the project scope

o Knowledge and experience of Severn Trent Water M&E standards and WIMES

o Management of mechanical work scope through the Solution Pricing Stage

o Production of mechanical tender documents, ensuring appropriate battery limits are set and that there are definitions of project success and/or completion.

o Complete commercial and technical bid analysis of mechanical tender returns

o Ensuring mechanical procurement is expedited in line with the project schedule whilst ensuring adequate oversight to protect Company's commercial position. Critical progress milestones are to be identified and included in all orders or subcontracts.

o Production and management of the Expediting Plan to ensure timely delivery of mechanical elements of projects to the required standard and quality

o Review mechanical schematics, diagrams, FDS documents, P&I documents and instigate design change as and when necessary

o Manage of supply chains Mechanical Detailed Design o Manage Mechanical Programme and provide monthly updates to project planners

o Ensure the technical solution delivery is consistent across the project life cycle from early involvement to completion

o Ensure best practice, technical bulletins and lessons learned are utilised

o Ability to read and analyse project programmes [Primavera P6] and other key

To be considered a relevant candidate for this role you will need the following:

* Candidates must have experience with a main contractor working on Water and Wastewater Process Engineering projects within the Water sector


* HND / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum


* Member or working towards chartered status of a relevant professional body


* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment, although must be able to self-manage,


* Demonstrate ability to challenge and deliver value engineering solutions
