Incoming services

Liaison between utility companies, consultants, construction team to ensure timely delivery / installation of all required incoming services.

Design review and monitoring against the procurement programme of the following:

Mechanical design (including the BMS, fire, security, lifts etc.)

Consultants drawings

Consultants specification

Consultants main plant schedules

The above should be carried out to ensure/highlight the following:

Compliance with the Employers requirements

Over specification

Specification deficiencies

Interfaces with the contract construction works

Interfaces/ compatibility with the mechanical packages

Commercial opportunities/risks

Client / consultant liaison to ensure design meets both the Clients expectations as well as the financial constraints.

Responsible for the collation and monitoring of all relevant package specific information with in the procurement programme time scale:

Tender documentation enquiries

Contract specific scopes of work on a package by package basis

Ensure programme feasibility

Mid-tender interviews

Review technically & financially the tender return documentation and make recommendations to the Project Manager.

Responsible for the collation of the contract order documentation once a package contractor has been selected including pre-let meetings.

Construction phase

The senior mechanical engineer will be responsible for the day to day management of the complete mechanical installation including (but not limited to):

Full co-ordination and liaison with construction team to ensure interface co-ordination.

Review of the co-ordinated drawings prior to issue to the package contractors

Review of the design package contractors drawings and technical submissions to ensure compliance with design.

Operation of the M & E risk register, updating on a regular basis

Health & Safety issues relative to the complete contract and in particular package contractors under direct control.

Technical submissions to the design team for approval.

Request for information relevant to the mechanical packages.

Liaison with the site QS with regards to all mechanical packages

Domestic and Client variation clarification/justification and inclusion to the installation

Effective management of the mechanical engineer/supervision

Effective management of the mechanical package contractors

Issuing of progress reports as required.

Programming of works/ delivery of materials to suit main construction programme

QA procedure compliance

Progress meetings with package contractors as deemed necessary

Monitoring of progress in relation to the construction programme

Monitoring of test data relative to the design parameters to achieve consultant sign off.

Production of all statutory documentation/ certificates for mechanical installations etc and sign off with building control.

Commissioning management

Organisation and checking of the O&M's documentation and As built drawings

Sign off procedures to suit Clients requirements

Package contractors final account input

Must Have

CSCS Registration | Asbestos Awareness (UKATA or equivalent) | SSSTS (2 Day Site Supervisors Safety) | One Day Operatives Safety Awareness / CCNSG (2 days) / ROI Safepass | CDM Planners/Estimators / QS etc | Environmental Good Practice on Site - CIRIA | Spill Kit Awareness - OHES / Darcy | Spill Response - OHES | COSHH Awareness / Coordinator | Initial Asbestos Awareness (UKATA or recognised equivalent) | Temporary Works Awareness (CITB TWGAT course) | Temporary Works Co-Ordinator (CITB SSP course) | Basic Scaffold Inspection (CITB - BSIS)
