Job description

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive Mechanical and Electrical consultant who is familiar with undertaking M&E condition surveys and reports and well as providing support to the existing team in the delivery of projects.

There will be a focus on undertaking condition appraisals of educational premises but the role may also develop to include

  • Commercial new build and refurbishment projects
  • Education schemes
  • Major residential and mixed use developments
  • Sports and Leisure/Stadium projects - both nationally and globally

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of Mechanical and electrical condition data capture surveys
  • The individual will be an integral part of a team that is accountable for the commercial and contractual performance of a project
  • To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances
  • To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
  • Comply with established commercial/procurement/ contractual strategies
  • Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
  • Individually or as part of a team operate processes for the selection, appointment and management of construction and engineering contractors
  • Cost Planning including:
  • Preparation of indicative cost budgets and appraisals
  • Preparation of elemental cost plans in accordance with NRM
  • Provide advice and opinion in respect of our client development plans and expectations
  • Value engineering studies
  • M&E Surveying including:*Undertake pre survey meetings with client representatives and Building Stock Condition Surveyors
  • Populate the asset management system via tablet technology with data relating to the condition of the stock and surrounding areas along with other legislative requirements
  • Promote commercial awareness throughout project
  • Advising and liaising with internal project and cost control team
  • Developing Commercial Strategies
  • Developing Acquisition Strategies

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.

  • Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering degree accredited by either IET and/or IMechE
  • Strong experience post degree (pre qualification relevant experience may be considered) in a similar role.
  • Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
  • Proficient in the use of mobile data capture device
  • Experience of Kykloud would be desirable
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service, communication and client/external interface skills
  • Stakeholder management with a clear focus on developing client accounts and forging new business relationships
  • Able to work with teams and have the ability to prioritise workloads and deliver to deadlines
  • A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitious
  • Ability to identify and develop potential opportunities to secure more business for the company
  • Ability to successfully manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner
  • Excellent specification writing skills
  • Client facing, ensuring a high standard of technical delivery
  • Able to build long-term relationships
  • A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitious
  • Being presentable and appropriately representing the code of conduct and ethics of your respective institutions
  • IT literacy and expertise in using tablet based data collection technologies, Excel, Word MS Project,
  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible approach to work
  • Well presented with good interpersonal skills
