We are recruiting on behalf of a private utilities company that provides water and wastewater services to 1000+ MoD establishments across England and Wales under a 25-year private finance initiative agreement. Their operations are run from eight base locations across the contract area, with a head office in South Yorkshire. and ambitious plans to grow into an expanding marketplace.

An opportunity has arisen for a home-based M&E Field Technician. The role involves travelling to and providing preventative and reactive maintenance services on MOD water and wastewater assets across the Shropshire, Hereford, West Midlands, Gloucester and Worcester region.

We are looking for someone who has completed a full electrical apprenticeship and has a formal qualification. It is essential that you have 17th Edition and experience in industrial asset maintenance including a good understanding of panel drawings and fault finding of single and three phase.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintenance of Electrical and Mechanical assets across water and wastewater treatment and pumping installations.
  • Mobile working as part of a Maintenance Team to deliver Planned & Reactive maintenance. Responding to emergency calls both in and out of hours (on call-out rota).
  • Driving to deliver improved asset reliability through effective decision making.
  • Accountable for the completion of Planned & Reactive Electrical and Mechanical tasks within timescale, quality and cost parameters.
  • Able to manage your own time and prioritise own workload.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with operational customers, colleagues & suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Adhere to stringent Health & Safety policies and standards.
  • Working unsupervised in remote geographic locations.
  • Install & commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant.
  • Proactive identification and reporting of follow on work or areas for enhancement.
  • Participating in a standby rota

To be considered a relevant candidate for the role you will need the following:

  • Qualified Electrician with mechanical experience and understanding.
  • Qualifications - 17th Edition Electrical Installations as a minimum and have served a recognised electrical craft/technician apprenticeship.
  • You must be experienced in industrial asset maintenance this include a good understanding of panel drawings and fault finding of single and three phase.
  • Experience with pumps, water treatment, compressors and blowers control philosophies.
  • Experience within water industry or similar process critical environment.
  • Confined Space working experience
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues in person and by telephone or understand communications & instructions in person, by telephone and in writing.
  • Full UK Driving Licence - this role involves a varied amount of daily driving to and from sites and client bases.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance which involves a Criminal Record Check and a full MoD Security Application and associated verification processes
