Managing Quantity Surveyor - Refurbishment - North West - up to £60,000 plus package

The client

My client are a highly experienced, established Cat A and Cat B contractor with a strong national presence (especially in the North West).

They work on large scale office fit out projects. This client has a requirement for a degree qualified (preferably chartered) Managing Quantity

Surveyor to look after a team of different level Quantity Surveyors.

The Role

You will be a key member of the Commercial team, reporting straight to the Commercial Director.

Assist in managing the commercial aspects of the appointed contract(s), contributing to the overall strategy and performance of the contract to meet agreed business and service objectives.

Managing an office based Commercial team.

Attend, lead and influence client meetings as appropriate

Resolving contractual and commercial problems where applicable

Help to train / lead and progress junior members of staff

Offering direction and instruction

Understand the contract requirements and tender strategy, and operate to its requirements

Ensure that appropriate stakeholders are kept up to date on business processes

Reviewing and developing operational process flows
Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations

Ensuring that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to all parties
Overseeing financial KPIs

The Candidate

Experience working as a Commercial manager for an office fit out (CAT A & CAT B) contractor in a previous role

Excellent planning and organisational skills.

Degree qualified in a relevant degree

Strong educational background
Strong commercial awareness
Strong Negotiator
Good numeracy skills
Being able to work with a team
Strong analytical skills?
Excellent IT skills and knowledge of relevant software
Exemplary communication skills
Client liaising
High attention to detail
High understanding of construction processes
Strong contractual knowledge
Ability to manage a team

Demonstrable experience of making a material contribution to improving the returns on contracts.

Good presentation, influencing and motivation skills.

Good communication skills both verbal and written.

Desire to develop and motivated to achieving targets.

Flexible 'can do' attitude.

Preferably chartered to RICS or ICES, or working towards chartership.

Detailed experience and understanding of the NEC3 contract, and applied local variations.

An understanding of the practices and methods when working in the public realm environment.

PC literate and knowledge of MS suite i.e. Word, Excel etc.

Familiar with some form of commercial / costing systems.

Salary and Package

£50,000 - £60,000 + package
