Managing Quantity Surveyor role - Fit out Leisure / Hospitality projects - Manchester based office - North West based projects

Job title -Managing Quantity Surveyor

My client, an established leisure fit out contractor based in Manchester. A fantastic opportunity is available within this established Construction business. I am currently recruiting for an ambitious and talented Managing Quantity Surveyor for this busy contractor.

The successful candidate will have a good level of Commercial experience, preferably with a Fit out Contractor and will ideally have a suitable qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction related subject.

The successful candidate will be joining an existing team of highly skilled, professional and dedicated commercial professionals.

Key Responsibilities include:

Attend appropriate client meetings, and ensure appropriate, accurate information is supplied in advance
Contact – risk analysis
Establish regular review meetings with key supply chain partners to identify and address issues as they arise.
Coordinate all Consultant information for the project packages
Approve all design information from consultants for each package
All cost reporting
Procure all subcontract trades involving other key members of the team ensuring the best value is obtained and all subcontractor prequalification criteria have been supplied.

Appoint all subcontractors’ packages
Source materials for subcontractor packages
Prepare Tender Docs for material & plant
Prepare Tender Docs for subcontractor packages
General all tasks to support the business
Appoint all material packages
Hire and off Hire all plant required
Produce Tender Comparisons for all packages
Produce Subcontract and Material Procurement Schedules
Produce BoQ for all packages when tendering
Provide weekly Progress Reports
Carry out Material stock takes weekly
Produce material call of schedules for suppliers and site team
Produce Project Cash Flow and update on a monthly basis / Produce monthly CVR and update on a monthly basis
Produce Monthly Valuations
Complete all Valuations & Variations
Attend site meetings and subcontractors’ meetings through Construction delivery
Understand the implications of health and safety regulations
Monitor quality control by subcontractors
Candidate skills

• Worked as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Quantity Surveyor in a previous role

• Experience working on bar / restaurant / office fit out projects in a previous role

• Good attention to detail

• Good communicator

• Confident at negotiation

• Confident managing a procurement process

• Production of reports


As a managing quantity surveyor, you will:

• Provide accurate financial reporting on individual projects

• Collate, review financially and report on other projects

• Supervise, support and advise direct reports

• Take an active lead of the financial aspects and advise direct reports in the delivery of Pre-construction activities.

• Place subcontracts in accordance with the main contract and the companies policies and procedures

• Advise other project surveyors of opportunities to maximise values and minimise costs.

• Ensure direct reports follow the correct procedures
