Job description

We are currently working with a leading Facilities service provider to recruit a Maintenance Technician from a Joinery background on a large healthcare site in Liverpool.

Summary of Role:

Member of a multi-disciplinary estates team responsible for providing a full and comprehensive planned and reactive maintenance service to a Liverpool hospital. A pro-active and flexible approach to all work activities.

To carry out day-to-day planned and reactive maintenance & other works for which the post holder is trained.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Carry out a full range of routine planned preventative maintenance, condition monitoring, reactive maintenance and breakdown maintenance work associated with all plant, services and equipment to ensure mandatory and statutory compliance with policies and strategies maintaining a high quality and cost-effective service. This will include plant, services and equipment with or without supervision as appropriate to trade, experience or subsequent training as described in the schedule of Knowledge and Experience requirements.

  • Assist in the replacement of components and systems as part of life cycle obligations.
  • Assist with any variation works issued by the Client.
  • Liaise with external contractors and other Facilities staff.
  • To assist during inclement weather to grit where possible in and around the balconies, courtyards, roadways and footpaths.
  • Able to work from steps, scaffolding and other access equipment.
  • Creates a LEAN environment
  • To participate in additional training based on the specific needs of the post holder to maximise their knowledge to ensure that the service level requirements of the organisation are achieved.
  • To carry out any other duties deemed to be reasonable by the Supervisor and managers
  • Undertake carpentry & joinery tasks, floor, wall and ceiling tile replacement , roof repairs, plaster repairs, brickwork, drainage and other works associated with the upkeep and maintenance of the building fabric.

Contract Management

  • Understand the project's objectives from client and project delivery team
  • Ensure timekeeping, discipline, standard practices, policies and procedures are upheld and suggest improvements where identified.
  • Ensure a professional working relationship with designers, suppliers, contractors, Trust staff and other users of the facilities.
  • Attendance on training courses and learning from other staff or contractors to acquire any necessary skills.

Problem Solving

  • Anticipate problems and communicate problems upwards and request support
  • Assess problems to identify permanent solutions and communicate where appropriate to ensure the same mistake is not made twice
  • Be part of a team that operates in a climate of continuous improvement
  • Think outside traditional boundaries and endeavour to do things differently

Customer Relationship

  • Promote a positive image ensuring that supplied clothing and equipment is kept clean and fit for purpose. Maintain a well-groomed self-appearance and positive helpful attitude.
  • Ensure that all works are carried out to a high standard of workmanship causing least disruption to building users.

Health and Safety

  • Maintenance of self-awareness of, and compliance with, all aspects relating to Health and Safety legislation, Department of Health and Trust Policies and procedures.
  • Insofar as is practicable and within the scope of the post holder, ensure that all organisations that act on behalf of the Trust comply with the above
  • Carry out Competent Persons duties

Deliver Financial Return

  • Be part of a Project team that works efficiently to ensure that a financial return is delivered.
  • Try new ways to do a job to gain efficiencies.
  • Consider the financial implications when making decisions.


Joinery qualification.

Relevant Experience:

Working in a healthcare environment.
