IT Manager
Permanent - Greater Manchetser
Civil Engineering contractor
Up to £50,000 per annum DOE

As a well established civil engineering contractor based in the North West, my client are now looking for an experienced IT Manager to join their internal IT team to develop and maintain all IT hardware and network systems. As the successful candidate you will be able to roll out the new management system within 6 months and then maintain and develop the systems thereafter. you will also have a hand in core financial system improvements, eg Subcontract Certificates, Deferred VAT, Sales Ledger applications, uploading of Budget Cost. All maintenance will include Site based technology such as iPad / site based operational reporting. Specification and implementation of replacement telephone system to the cllient's head office will be paramount.


  • Maintains and improves the group's IT infrastructure, including develop and manage short and medium term IT hardware and network configuration
  • Ongoing development of core IT systems, particularly i365, to allow committed cost accounting and site-based authorisation of construction activities, including possible deployment of smart handheld technology
  • Manager relationship with third party IT maintenance provider (currently CNi)
  • Develop and oversee business continuity plans and data back-up protocols
  • Initiates, coordinates and enforces systems, policies and procedures
  • Participate in strategic business discussions and the role of IT in future growth
  • Project manage the implementation of new systems that improve operating methods within the group
  • Specification and purchase of IT hardware such as mobile phones, laptops and ipads
  • Interface and management of mobile phone service provider
  • Manage the register of IT assets


  • Degree level in a computer field
  • Minimum five years of IT work experience
  • Experienced manager with a strong IT background from within a construction or closely related sector.
  • Good technical skills across networks infrastructure
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications
