The Company

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Manager to join a national leading civil engineering and infrastructure company based in Walsall, West Midlands - on an interim basis.

The Job

This is an interim role for 12-months and you will be on the company books for this period.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the HR team, working in partnership with the business to deliver their people services from pre-employment to post-employment.

Job Duties

As Interim HR Manager, you will:


  • Contribute to and implement the overall HR strategy in conjunction with the senior management team
  • Ensure HR objectives are aligned with business objectives and the Company's future direction
  • Ensure the HR team works with the business on STR to ensure effective sourcing, appropriate development and positive employee engagement and retention
  • Promote and ensure the business follows policy and procedure with regard to its People
  • Provide support, guidance and direction to direct reports and to all levels of management within the business
  • Be responsible for ensuring all people related KPIs are analysed, with recommendations for corrective action being implemented

Employee relations

  • Pro-actively coach senior/managers in employee relations with a view to resolving potential issues before they escalate
  • Be ultimately responsible for all HR policies, procedures and guidance, and ensure that associated administration processes, are managed correctly and efficiently

Pay and benefits

  • Oversee the payroll function and ensure that all employees are paid in a timely manner in accordance with legislation
  • Ensure the Company meets its commitments in relation to statutory requirements
  • Oversee and be responsible for the review, development and management of benefits/ remuneration in conjunction with outsourced providers

Performance Management

  • Oversee the PDR process across the whole business
  • Where needed, support and advise business leaders on performance

Employee communications

  • Be responsible for the management of the processes for periodic employee surveys and
  • forums, interpretation of results and responding as appropriate

The person, will:

  • have a proven track record of effectively leading a HR function
  • have a professional qualification (MCIPD or degree / equivalent)
  • be passionate about the discipline and process
  • have experience in a multi-site environment
  • be keen to mentor and develop not only the HR team but also other managers within the company
  • have excellent communication skills
  • be happy to travel as and when necessary UK-wide
