Job description

We are working with a leading contractor in their Facilities Services division to recruit a HSEQ Manager for a large project in the Manchester area


  • Reporting to the Head of HSEQ, the role supports the Divisional Managing Director by providing strong, visible, proactive functional leadership of health & safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) matters to a Client/Contract.
  • Through the provision of guidance and competent advice, ensures that the Contract fully implements the management systems for HSEQ as well as specific Client requirements.
  • Implements a suitable and sufficient assurance regime (audits and inspections) to ensure the Contract complies with the requirements of the HSEQ management system and Client requirements.
  • Initiates and maintains positive measures to raise HSEQ standards and shares best practice with Group HSEQ and the Client.


  • Professional status: GradIOSH (or Equivalent) AIEMA (or equivalent). Some experience of quality management as well as managing Compliance issues.
  • Auditor experience in at least two disciplines. Lead Auditor preferable in one discipline.
  • Experienced practitioner-level understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory HSE frameworks.
  • Practical knowledge of HSE risk management in most areas, including construction, facilities management and service delivery.
  • Working understanding of the principles of quality management as applied to a service industry organisation.
  • Actively supports a positive HSE culture within the organisation and ensures that relationships with regulatory and advisory bodies are kept intact.

  • A skilled writer, capable of delivering a 'message for the reader'.
  • Is authoritative on all technical HSEQ issues.
  • Manages meetings to maintain effective and informed decision making with clear outputs and deliverables.
  • Resilient in the face of setbacks and opposition, Client focused ensuring fair representation of Stakeholders.
  • High levels of self-confidence allied to an ability to influence at all levels without undue conflict.
  • Capable of resolving disagreements and any conflicts within the team in a professional and friendly manner.

On offer is a competitive salary between £42,000 and £48,000 + car/car allowance and package benefits
