HR Officer


Up to £34,000 (DoE) plus laptop, mobile, pension

Our client is one of the fastest growing modular build contractors in the UK. The business typically work on projects ranging from £500k through to £6 million and are on a number of public sector frameworks. The majority of their projects are in the education sector ranging from extensions through to new build schools.

As the HR Officer you will advise both employees and stakeholder on HR related activities ensuring they are compliant and provide continual improvement in all HR activities. You will also be the first contract for all recruitment aspects across the business, advising line manager and managing the on boarding process. You will working collaboratively with the HSE Manager ensuring that a coherent approach is taken to considering and resolving H&S related HR issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dealing with all HR queries throughout the business
  • Reviewing and updating job specifications
  • Advising managers on recruitment and selection strategies
  • Assisting with and developing recruitment campaigns
  • Coordinating the appointment process for successful applicants
  • Monitoring key recruitment metrics, such as turnover and retention rates
  • Providing advice and playing a major role in work reviews and change processes
  • Using HR information systems to access, input and compile data
  • Identifying development needs
  • Managing staff relationships, responding to any queries or problems they have and managing expectations
  • Monitoring, reviewing and updating all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with current legislation
  • Supporting the HR consultant with various capability investigation, including grievance and disciplinary
  • Assisting in the recruitment and delivery of a fit for purpose apprentice development programme
  • Responsible for delivering the new starter on-boarding phase
  • Agreeing and evaluating training plans for new employees
  • Assisting in HR workshops and recruitment events

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified (in a related subject) and hold their CIPD Level 5. You will have previous experience working within the construction, engineering or manufacturing industries.
